Good question! It was mostly a decision due to it still getting security support and W7 was about to not have it. I'm kind of lazy, so sometimes if I'm on that PC I'll still get on the internet. Now I don't want to mess with a good thing. It's rock-solid. Too lazy to wipe it clean and do W7. How's that? Honesty, LOL.

Especially when some of the games are so DRM-infused that installation of them can take half a day. A prime example being Blacksite: Area 51. Once they are in, it's best to just leave it be and wipe off the sweat from your forehead.

This post really hasn't aged well. Most enterprises are still on Windows 7 extended life support and have skipped Windows 8, as expected. Windows 10 did a 180 degree turn and backtracked on its Fisher Price GUI entirely. Glad I was right.

For those looking for security support for Windows 7 without paying Microsoft's shakedown money per-year and a cheaper option might want to look into 0patch. I'm using it so far since January and they've addressed security issues faster than Microsoft themselves for less without breaking any core functionality or tampering with system files due to how their program works. I will be holding out on Windows 7 being my main OS on my current PC (for gaming, at least) until 5nm Zen 4 hits -- then I will just start over on Windows 10 and Linux.
