Here in Europe the 3080 is around $890 for the FE, which is absolutely impossible to buy. Most other models are above $1100 VAT included.
And this is according to Nvidia official website, so we are not speaking about scalpers.

On Amazon you could easily found scalpers selling a 3070 for the equivalent of $1200, and a 3080 for $1400. And they sold out in MINUTES, literally.

So please stop speaking about MSRP, since it was Nvidia (and AMD) trolling customers.

The bus size of the memory correlates with the amount of memory present. You can't have 320bit memory with 16GB without splitting the memory up. Similar to GTX 970 issue

if it is still 320bit they would make a 20 GB card. If it is 384 bit, they would probably make a 12GB card so as not to eat into 3090's 24GB

It's not NVIDIA or AMD trolling customers, it's the price the websites linked there are selling at.
I know because I bought my 3060 Ti from such a site.
Luckily the site that was linked was a distributor's site, so I was able to secure the card for relatively cheap. Even Amazon India has the 3060 Ti for exorbitant prices - over INR50,000 in some cases($680).

It's the same type.
GDDR6X is only on the 3080 and 3090.

We don’t know about the bus yet. Maybe 3060 has a smaller bus.

In case you didn’t notice, Nvidia 3070 were released MONTHS ago.
The “early adopters” meme doesn’t apply here.

RTX 3080 10 GB graphics card at a virtual $699 and its top-of-the-line RTX 3090 graphics card at #$1,499 - better to compete with the RX 6900 at (an also virtual) $999.

Those virtual price tags just scream forget about us and skip this generation.

However, the RTX 3060 being listed in a 12 GB GDDR6 version (with a certain 6 GB version being on its way as well) really is puzzling; that graphics card, which is expected to pack only 3840 CUDA cores in its GA106 chip, will run out of shading and RT power long before that VRAM pool is exhausted.

That's indeed going to be the case. Let's hope that a 3060 getting 12 GB of VRAM is just an indication that we also are gonna see a 16 GB 3070 Super/Ti variant somewhere down the line.

Thus it is seemingly confirmed that NVIDIA dropped official plans to offer the RTX 3080 in 20 GB GDDR6X flavor, and is instead packing its RTX 3080 Ti with that amount of graphics memory - that should serve to make the model even more attractive to users who were still trying to get an RTX 3080 series, as the drama surrounding that cards' 10 GB of VRAM is well-known across the tech industry and consumers.

10 GB of VRAM is simply not enough going forward. RTX 3080 Ti is the better offering overall among 30 series lineup but with virtual prices surrounding us, a 3070 Super/Ti at the 3080 Ti MSRP (presumably $999) would be a good choice in these current times.

Just keep your head on straight, know the real value of the item and be patient, you should be fine(well, not *you*, but you get the idea).
