ASUS Z590 ROG Maximus XIII, TUF, & PRIME Motherboards Pictured

A number of upcoming Z590 ASUS motherboards have recently been pictured. The four upcoming motherboards include the ASUS ROG Maximus XIII Extreme Glacial, ASUS ROG Maximus XIII Hero, ASUS Prime Z590-A, and the ASUS TUF Z590-PLUS WIFI. These new motherboards feature an LGA1200 socket the same one found on existing Z490 boards and are targeted towards Intel's upcoming 11th generation processors. The new Rocket Lake-S processors will introduce support for PCIe 4.0 which should be fully supported on these new boards.

The Z590 MAXIMUS XIII EXTREME GLACIAL is a high-end premium motherboard with integrated monoblock from EK. The board is similar to the Z490 GUNDAM and comes in an E-ATX form factor. The 13th edition ASUS ROG Maximus XIII Hero includes dual EATX12V 8-pin power connectors an upgrade from the 8+4 pin configuration found on the Z490 series. These new motherboards are expected to be announced in the coming days during CES.

Really? So why all recent intel chipset are passive cooled vs active mini-fan cooling that we have on amd X570 and TRX40? I have a Zenith II Extreme and damn that chipset is an oven.

Not all Z490 boards are passively cooled. Quite a few of them have at least 1 tiny fan to help cool the VRMs. The Z490 PG Velocita from ASRock, for example, features 3 of these tiny fans - one inside the I/O shroud and two inside the top VRM heatsink.

Also, which version of the Extreme do you have? I believe Asus came out with an updated version that addressed chipset cooling. The Extreme Alpha, I think it was called?

The Alpha has only updated the VRM section, increasing max amperage output to better support 3990X (and thus improving VRM temps too), chipset cooling is identical beetween the two revisions (btw the VRM and the Chipset have separated heatsinks and fans, so one does not affect the other temps).

The majority of amd board have the fan, as you say on the intel ones some mbs have improved VRM heatsink (not the chipset) with active cooling to help in overclocking scenarios, but the amd chipset is always hot, even when the platform is running full-stock.
But there is no amd motherboard, not even one, that offer an full-monoblock cooling. Luckly there are some chipset only waterblock, but, unfortunately, many amd board doesn't have standard heatsink mounting holes.

I think You mistaken CPUs for chipsets.

As for why Asus did not LC the AMD chipsets - cause AMD got sh*t on by partners. Compare the amount of motherboards and options on Z490 to X570 - the latter looks poor, eg. almost no mATX (and those that exist are of low end).

Because this is a halo product?
This is purely there to advertise Asus as a brand.
It will probably cost a LOT of money, like unreasonably much, because its purely there to advertise, something featured on computex or reviewed by Linus or Der Bauer or so, not something people actually buy.

No different from that Asrock X570 Aqua not too long ago that cost 1000 dollar and was limited to about a 100 units.
