NVIDIA G92 Graphics Chip to Launch in November

NVIDIA's G92 mid-range graphics chip is provisionally set to launch on November 12th this year, while the launch date of the entry-level G98 still remains unknown, according to DigiTimes. NVIDIA plans to replace the GeForce 8800GTS series with the G92, while the G98 will replace entry-level products in the GeForce 8 series. The G92 will support PCI Express 2.0, HDMI, PureVideo Gen 3 and Display Port, while the chip will adopt a 65nm process. Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC) will manufacture the chips. Despite the new chip designs, G92 and G98 can only be considered an update of the GeForce 8 series since they will not include any major changes.

If price/performance is in a good relation, i'll maybe replace my 7900gto with a G92. if it has the same performance, but DX10 support, i won't upgrade...

It will bring current prices down, so very good, no matter how low or high end they are =) I wouldn't mind a cheap 8800GTS.

Now im so mad its not even funny i was saving up $500 just for one of those babys now im gonna save probably $250 with this update lol oh well at least i can put that extra money to good use later on

this gts may just overclock faster than a gtx/ultra. or maybe it will just oc a little more with added features from the 8800gts.... I thought theses were going to be dx10.1 capable too, maybe inq forgot about that .

There's nothing good about DX10.1 lol. Cannot DX10 is all that in the 1st place.

wtf? nvidia has already stated that the g92 is supposed to have three times the shading power of the 8800's. so where is the high end? I call bs inq.

Essentially, the most notable difference is PCIE frequency, and how much power PCIE can supply vs PCIE2, however high-mid to highend cards will need external powr anyway.. pretty much making PCIE 2.0 useless. Especially if you can increas PCIE frequency on your mobo.
