The recently announced ASUS ROG Z590 motherboards will include the MemTest86 utility as part of their UEFI BIOS. The memory testing tool is used to test system memory for faults, which will help overclockers get the best performance out of their systems. The Intel 11th Generation Rocket Lake processors offer greatly improved memory capabilities with 3200 MHz DDR4 natively supported and various motherboard manufacturers supporting up to 5000+ MHz. The MemTest86 program runs directly from the BIOS and saves the results to BIOS archives for reference. ASUS ROG B560 and Z590 motherboard will both also include a free 60 day AIDA64 Extreme subscription.

Well this will be handy. Maybe this will become a trend and we'll see more motherboards with this feature.

As @Deeveo has said, this is pretty damn handy to include and bundle into the UEFI/BIOS. Can only give them a thumbs up for doing this.

Ironically this would be more useful on AMD motherboards, with all the crazy whea errors the recent CPUs are having. But this is a great feature and I hope it is the new Norm. Kudos to Asus

It is the UEFI version, it's less reliable as the non UEFI one because the system reserves more RAM. When I do RAM testing I fo it in CSM mode, single threaded

OEMs like Dell and Lenovo have bundled diagnostics tools in their BIOSes for years, but it's still a welcome addition.

That depends on what kind of memory issues those machines are experiencing. In general, if the BIOS can't initialize the memory then you wouldn't even get that far. And if issues are random enough, a system can still pass a memtest and be unstable.

I've been putting off setting up an AMD machine until a motherboard seems convincingly reliable, but so far there seem to be remaining stability issues. A few launch day problems is one thing, but we are now three months in, and this is not good enough.

I remember EVGA having some sort of stress test built into the BIOS too.

My old Biostar i45 has it in the bios. This kind of thing should have been common for a long time.

Welp, at least it's a feature now on those. Even if it's kinda late, it's better now then never.
