Intel is reportedly giving finishing touches to the Core i9-10900KS Special Edition desktop processor. The SKU was leaked to the web in an "eligible products list" as part of a "Crysis Remastered" game bundle campaign. This would be the third in a string of special edition processor models from Intel, after the Core i7-8086K, and the Core i9-9900KS. The i9-10900KS could be a 10-core/20-thread processor based on the "Comet Lake-S" silicon, but with higher clock-speeds than the i9-10900K, possibly even a high all-core boost frequency. The timing of this launch is curious, as we're just 6-7 weeks from market availability of the 11th Gen Core "Rocket Lake-S" launch.

In related news, Intel is refreshing the bottom end of its 10th Gen Core "Comet Lake" lineup with the company's latest corporate identity and packaging. This is probably being done to cater to entry-level 400-series chipsets such as the H410 and B460, which will not support "Rocket Lake" processors. A Malaysian tech publication posted a picture of a refreshed Core i3-10105F 4-core/8-thread processor retail package. In all likelihood, the refreshed 10th Gen chips are speed-bumps.

Who's actually gonna buy this? LMAO!
What is problem to got 10c CPU if price is equal or little more than non special bins. RKL is limited to 8c. 10c is more than 8c and with increase of frequencies will maybe equal in single thread and so sure faster in multi thread. For upgrade on old MB is fine if now in own PC has 9-10th series CPU with much less (4-6) core count.

Well, 8086k could reach high clocks with low voltage, but cant see anyone buying this with Rocket Lake around the corner and the current price drop.

Here, the i9 10850k is now 360€, and wether we like it or not, thats a crazy deal for a 10 Core chip with good IPC. No reasons to pay 350€ for a 6c/12t Ryzen 5600x or 480€ for a 5800x.

From i9-10900K review:
Hits highest x52 multiplier very rarely, has difficulties reaching x51, too

So increasing clocks for this architecture is pointless

Just another sticker added to unsold regular i9-10900K. A farewell for 10 core before they can make them again sometime in future.

InnJapan。
私は10900Kを使用しています。
問題なく、通常の使用では5.1GHzです。
消費電力/パフォーマンスが悪いため、5.2GHzを定期的に使用していません。
ただし、OCで遊ぶ場合は5.3GHzで問題ありません。

Do note - CML-S stuff will still not support M.2 PCIE4 slots on some motherboards. These will be reserved to Core i5+ 11th gen CPUs

Good point. Where is here? I'm looking at the prices for 10850K and the price for one is over $500 where I live. So I say hmm?? to that.

And I doubt he would shell out north of $470++ if he himself objected to Ryzen price.

Scalped price? I see a higher price for around $50 than the MSRP price for the 5800x in Norway in a legit electronics store considering the shortages for CPUs in general. How scalpers are involved in this?

Storeman asked, "How do we clear all these Comet Lake from our storeroom now that Rocket Lake will be out soon?"
Marketing answered, "Just rebrand it as "Special Edition". This should make it more attractive. And top it off with a free game and it will be a winner."

Jokes aside, I feel Intel's marketing department is getting more "creative" over years. Again, I rather Intel focus on making a good product, than trying to sugar coat their ageing products with marketing fluff.

I wonder if these will be all SP 90+. Hoping for a 110, tired of binning "regular" 10900K chips
Hi,
Later chips out of Korea or were they out of Vietnam ?
Either way I haven't read any over sp69 best ones came out early and out of China.

You think that Intel will sell the rebranded 10900KS for about $200 each or less and for the man on the street that before could dream about i5? Now with WFH increasing even more so, there are many with rather shallow pockets looking for any deals they can get. Perhaps Intel for a change wants to be nice to its cherished customers base and making their CPU dreams finally come true? Or is it that Intel is looking to taking another "Grab & Go" from my next $1,400 stimulus check when that dream ever comes true? I must be living in a dream world? Having said the above I now feel much more refreshed! Thoughts?

A mixture of China and Vietnam, actually. Best I found was an SP 96 that was an early Vietnam batch (X013F855) from eBay. Best chip from China was an SP 88, batch# V041F479 from Micro Center. Someone over at Overclock.net in the 10900K binning thread bought one of the same batch at a Micro Center in Dallas and got a 116 :twitch:. Someone else from the thread bought a KF recently (didn't mention batch) from NewEgg that was a 115.

Between the time I bought (msrp) and installed the 9900KS, the price more than doubled on eBay. Man, that PC is going to last a looong time.

Go find AMD CPUs at reasonable prices. Once an underdog, now "fuck customers - profits first".

Probably left over stock of 10900K so they stuff them in Avengers boxes as a "special" edition.

I can get the 5800x for reasonable price actually. it is the only one available but still I can get it. It's like $50 over MSRP but considering the situation it's pretty darn good.

Then perhaps you go get it now since you said a $50 extra over MSRP is considered "reasonable"?
