Thermalright Intros Venomous Plus CPU Cooler

Thermalright today introduced the Venomous Plus, its latest tower-type CPU cooler and a re-take on the 10+ year old Venomous X. Designed to tackle thermal loads of up to 240 W, the Venomous Plus features a classic aluminium fin-stack design. Six 6 mm-thick nickel-plated copper heat pipes make indirect contact with the CPU at the mirror-finished base made of the same material; passing through the aluminium fin-stack that's ventilated by a TL-C12S 120 mm fan. The heatsink by itself measures 127 mm x 60 mm x 158 mm (WxDxH), weighing 660 g, and holding 51 fins. The fan adds about 25-27 mm in width.

The included TL-C12S fan is one of the key things setting this apart from the Venomous X. It's a modern unit that takes in 4-pin PWM for its main function, 3-pin ARGB for illumination, and features ARGB illumination through diodes studded in the impeller hub. The fan features fluid-dynamic bearing, turns up to 1,500 RPM (±10%), pushing up to 66.17 CFM of air-flow with static pressure of 1.53 mm H₂O; and has a maximum noise output of 25.6 dBA. Among the CPU socket types supported are AM4, LGA1200, LGA115x, and LGA2066.

Still running Silver Arrow SB-Extreme on my ryzen 5800x, still have Ultra 120 Extreme on my 10600k rig. Thermalright makes best air coolers, this one looks like a good new family member.

Before I switched to custom LC, I always used Tr coolers - the only manufacturer going toe to toe with Noctua in terms of quality for years. I had SLK-947, SP-97, XP-120, HR-01...

inb4 you have to lap 1-2mm of material from the wavy base and then use a couple washers for the mounting to have sufficient pressure again.. Oh the good ol days of Thermalright coolers.

The Venomous-X was my favorite cooler "back in the day". It was very efficient, easy to install and not a huge footprint. if this is pretty much the same cooler with modern upgrades, it's a winner. Hopefully a little cheaper than Noctua.

Looks like yet anutha 212 cloner to me, albeit with a little better finish & moar precision edging/detailing....

And yes, I agree that adding a 2nd fan would probably make it perform a little better

Would you stop trolling every product release?

The venomous is based on the thermalright 120 extreme, which has two more heat-pipes than the 212 and the cooler it was based on, the TR 120, which came out years before the 212... and that doesn’t even speak to the XP120 before it (first tower cooler? I don’t remember) and probably other tower coolers I’m forgetting... They still produce some of the best coolers available, leagues ahead of anything CM has ever offered.

Thermalright was the most innovative cooling company through the aughts — CM is the knock-off company, as are all of those overpriced thermaltake cases you love so much (it’s literally in the name — one is thermalright, the other is a take).

If you’re going to call out knock-offs at least do your research...

Edit: Shoutout to the CM Seidon, the quietest CLC ever released but sadly thwarted by Asetek. ~2009-12 were probably the golden years of CM. Nice work on the NR200 as of late.

I gotta say, the look of this thing is rather refreshing! It'll be interesting to see how much it will cost.

The Venomous X design was made way back in 2010, so this is a 11 yo design. I see some changes from their later designs, like the hollowed out logo and it seems like the mounting kit could be an old design but using new molds for the bracket arms.

The Venomous X was a successor of the Ultra 120, which was a successor of the HR-01 way back in 2000~2005. The Hyper 212 came out around 2005~2007, so I wouldn't say who copied who. But Thermalright always had ultra high-end products in terms of quality and performance. The Hyper 212 is mainstream.
