NVIDIA today released the GeForce Hotfix 461.81 drivers to expeditiously fix bugs discovered with the previous driver. Based mostly on the GeForce 461.72 WHQL, the drivers come with shader cache optimizations for "Fortnite," which work to reduce stutter on certain PC configurations. A display flickering issue on some machines with GeForce GTX 1660 Super, has been fixed. Pixellated black dots noticed in "Red Dead Redemption II" has been fixed. Stuttering noticed with moving windows of certain desktop applications, has been fixed. NVIDIA Surround failing with 4K HDMI 2.1 TVs has been fixed. "Detroit: Become Human" crashing with image sharpening enabled, has been fixed. Also fixed, is long game loading times with "Rocket League." Grab the hotfix from the link below.

DOWNLOAD: NVIDIA GeForce Hotfix 461.81

The hotfix addresses the following issues:
  • [Fortnite] Shader cache optimizations to reduce intermittent stutter on some PC configurations [3244272]
  • [GeForce GTX 1660 Super]: Random flickering may appear across the top of the monitor on some PC configurations. [3184254]
  • [Vulkan] Red Dead Redemption 2 may display pixelated black dots [3266614]
  • Some desktop applications may stutter when moving around the window on some PC configurations [3252200]
  • Enabling NVIDIA Surround with 4K HDMI 2.1 TVs may fail [3184849]
  • [Rocket League] Matches may take longer to load [3244324]
  • [Detroit: Become Human] Game may crash when launched with Image Sharpening enabled [200667092]

Nvidia has a history of long running support for older cards. Their DX10 lineup started in 2006 and got driver updates until 2014, the DX11 fermis got support until 2018. Until DX11 stopps being widely used kepler will likely continue to get driver updates.

Yay atleast its a different issue now, I used to get huge stutters on my end ( Same problems nvidia. - GIF - Imgur ) but now the displays themselves turn off and on step by step I guess (Version 2 - GIF - Imgur)

Reverting back to 456 (windows provided driver) I guess.
You sure that's not your mouse? That windows sound is usually only for unplugging a USB device, and unplugging a display does not emit that kind of sound. I just unplugged my display and plugged it back in, no sound. I also tried only showing on the 1st display, no sound. I am 99% sure it's your mouse, because based on the video, it looks like the mouse stuttered when those sounds emitted. It is possibly caused by the mouse requiring more power than the USB port can provide (likely caused by a high polling rate or LEDs).

Definitely not the mouse, even without a single USB device connected i get this sound.

And the stutter happens regardless.

Now the screens completely turn off and on.

I'm assuming extracting the driver files, deleting everything except NVI2, Display.Driver, setup.exe and setup.cfg, and installing it that way, is the same as using NVCleanstall?

Which graphics card, motherboard (if ryzen, which CPU), and power supply do you have? Also, which slot do you have the graphics card in, and do you have any other devices in any other expansion slot?

I mean personally I just uninstall the drivers, then delete the NVIDIA folders in the C drive, or I do a clean reinstall to ensure no issues, but using DisplayDriverUninstaller works for most people too.

I'd say that's a good thing.

Edit: On the other side there are still "fake" GPU's around, then if there would not be driver support for the old cards they use it wouldn't work anymore...

Why do any of that? You can install new driver thru its installer w/o having to uninstall first since it does it at time of install. DDU isn't as needed nowadays. I only download the latest one when the need arises which is rare these days.

3080, Dark hero (had 2 different boards from gigabyte with the same problem), 5900 (also had 2x 5600 and 1x 5800), RM750 corsair (also had a gigabyte 850w dont know the name but it was bundled with the 3080). First slot, other slots not used.

I stayed with the driver in this post and left the pc alone (still haven't went back) and everything went to shit, event viewer says not available network path thing, task manager wont open nor would anything windows related.

Now after restarting I see the logs (working) and ever since the install of that driver I had 6 Errors (3x distributedCOM, 1x kernal-eventtracing (PerfDiag Logger), 1x windowsupdateclient, 1x application error which was the motherboard software of darkhero).

Using DDU for every driver install is gonna drive me insane. I only do it if there's a specific driver issue.

Extracting the driver files and only keeping the essentials seems to work fine for me when NVCleanstall doesn't have the driver listed, only 2 NVIDIA processes running.

Yeah.... I think Windows is trying to keep reinstalling the driver until it works, though I can't confirm that.

So... Crosshair 8 Dark Hero, which is X570. You state you have tested 4 different CPUs (all being Ryzen 5000), what BIOS version are you running? Have you tried running the graphics card in any other slot? And, have you tried another display cable, or maybe another video port on the graphics card and/or monitor?

You also state that even task manager was not responding or anything windows related. So, the only time this particular issue has ever happened to me was when I connected a known corrupt hard drive to the computer via an external USB to SATA adapter. What I'm getting at is, there is a chance one of your storage drives might be corrupt. Yes this is a very long shot, but try running sfc /scannow and see if it brings up anything.

Why do any of that? You can install new driver thru its installer w/o having to uninstall first since it does it at time of install. DDU isn't as needed nowadays. I only download the latest one when the need arises which is rare these days.
Because in some instances you can't even get to the installation part of the installer. In rare instances there are hardware "issues" that prevent even installing the GPU driver normally; I have an i7-3770K and I had my iGPU overclocked to ~1400 MHz, and it was perfectly stable like 3 months ago, well I tried to install the NVIDIA driver for my 1650 Super, and it would not work, no mattery what I tried, the computer would crash. I legit thought my GPU was dying, turns out it actually was my iGPU that was causing the issue, and I lowered it to 1300, and I was able to install the GPU normally. Yes, you may think I am an idiot for suggesting things that aren't obviously related, but trust me, in some instances, literally anything could be the issue.

No, not really. NVCleanstall both provides more modularity and is less likely to break things than what you just described.

Well too bad it doesn't support hotfixes. I did that method with drivers before I knew of NVCleanstall and had no issues.

Is there any other difference (except auto update checking) between NVCleanstall and extract driver, remove unused folders and install them via device manager?

What I've noticed is NVCleanstall changes driver signature.

that is crazy. i upgraded my brothers GPU recently from a evga 670 ftw 4g to a 1060 6gb and the performance was insane compared to that old gpu
