MSI Promotes Their RTX 3080 GE76 Raider Laptop For Cryptocurrency Mining

MSI recently published an official blog article advertising the cryptocurrency mining potential of their GE76 raider laptop with a mobile RTX 3080 graphics card. The official post appears to have now been removed but has been archived by the Wayback Machine. MSI acknowledges the shortage of graphics cards and proposes that miners look at purchasing their new laptops. MSI shows the earnings potential of their GE76 raider laptop running NiceHash on the Intel Core i9-10980HK processor and NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 graphics card. The mobile RTX-3080 achieved a hash rate of 52.8 MH/s running the Excavator miner with the DaggerHashimoto algorithm. This performance is slightly above the RTX 2080 Ti but falls significantly short of a desktop RTX 3080 which achieves nearly double at 95.7 MH/s. MSI also noted that they would be publishing a follow-up post with their profitability statistics however this now seems unlikely given that the original post appears to have been taken down.

Dont be ashamed of owning anything MSI. You didnt know that a company would promote something in the future.
Companines are just trying to promote something that lots of people are into but it also comes with alot of negativity.
I would be more ashamed at their PR department, they really didn't think it through.

First was bullying a Techtuber over their Alpha line of laptop
Second was scalping their own GPU
and now promote mining on their hardware.
They just not able to hold onto a ledge or something

Don't think for a second any other company is different. Ultimately their goal is to sell as much of their products as they can, doesn't really matter to whom. The only difference is that MSI's marketing team wasn't "smart" enough to keep it out of the public eye, which would obviously anger a segment of their customers/potential customers.

its in your sentence: targeting miners will throw of ALOT of the leadusers when it comes to "normal" use. (gaming etc) I for one will gladly pay more to avoid supporting bussiness that openly support running hardware for no practical reason and is the biggest threat to end-user hardware availability. Judging from the posts in this thread so will alot of other people. The issue is that when the cryptomining goes into hypernation, the market will flood with secondhand-cards and MSI will be the first-time-use hardware supplier that will be last resort in a bloated market. To behonest they could do just as everyone else and not talk about it but hope for it! Its like being the CEO of a medical company and announcing that you hope the price of medicine will go up due the market demand; The mainstream consumer will be effected by emotions (negatively in this case), and in a time where everyone is searching for a stance to take and use as a platform; i'll bet you that you will be able to see people refering to this move in even a year or two!

at current price levels 52.8 MH/s would produce around $5 dollars per day.. but whether miners would want them or not comes down to what they end up costing..

Exactly, my 3070 Gaming X Trio continues to be the best GPU I ever owned in all aspects.
