Benchmark Scores I once clocked a Celeron-300A to 564MHz on an Abit BE6 and it scored over 9000.
But that's not how it is happening. Nvidia reported a 61% increase in revenue for 2020 over the last year.

There is a limit to how many GPU wafers can be had from the fabs for either Nvidia or AMD.

The Pandemic isn't the only driver behind the huge GPU prices. The miners are also a huge part.
The problem at the moment, as I see it, is a duopoly that has found equilibrium in free-market capitalism.

It's more profitable for AMD and Nvidia to only make low-volume, high-profit parts, creating an artificial supply constraint. It's not their fault, it's how free-market capitalism works.

Neither AMD nor Nvidia currently has a low end part in production for the sub-$250 market where data shows that 95% of historic consumer and business users actually buy cards. Part of the problem is wealth inequality, too - since the rich have so much more disposable income than the average that they don't even care what the price is. If Nvidia made an RTX 3095 with tweaked clocks for $4999 you absolutely know that they'd all get bought up immediately, too.

No, it's just that you are missing the implied meaning. It's not like I'm the only one who's saying it, it's common in the US.

I'll add, you as a moderator should not be using condescending language like this.

I'll add this here as well, this is not just a me being wrong thing:

"Merriam-Webster treats the phrases couldn't care less and could care less as synonymous, both meaning "not concerned or interested at all." "Couldn't care less" is the older and more obvious phrase grammatically, but it has been confused for so long that both are now defined. Additionally, the example sentence "it's impossible that could care less" is the same as the intended meaning."

+1, "I could care less" means "I don't give a f"
To a literal person it means they feel neutral or ambivalent about it, on the scale of caring.
I could care less means they haven't maxed out the uncaring aspect.

Could Intel's XE actually be the saviour? Let's say $399 US for performance between a Vega 7 and 2080? The crazy thing is the DIY is stupid but pre builts and Gaming laptops are inexpensive. Just a couple weeks ago there was a desktop with a 10400F and 5600XT, 512GB SSD and 8 GB RAM for 1179 CAD on Canada Computers. Then there are laptops with 3060M (Get the 130W) for around $1300+ that are really nice for Gaming.
I don't think Intel gpu's will be a factor price wise until their Arizona foundries are in full swing (2024/2025). After they go online the first priority will be the US aerospace, auto and heavy machinery industry. With that said both of those foundries are designed for future expansion.

No, I said it the correct way for sure: https://slate.com/human-interest/20...onal-or-ungrammatical-as-you-might-think.html

It's an American saying that uses inference to imply that you in fact would be hard pressed to find something you could care less about.

Meanwhile "I couldn't care less" originated in britian (and you can usually tell someone isn't an American if they try and correct you to this phrase). This phrase directly states what the american version infers.
Since I've never heard it said in a sarcastic tone I can't substantiate the claim by you and the website. I do however know sarcasm when I hear it except from people who fail to comprehend how to audibly infer it. As far as online use, without any way to verify it just seems like one of the many erroneous things people mimic without thinking about what they're saying. *shrug*

If they take that long, there won't be a desktop market to sell to. Very few people buying a PC over the next 12 months is going to have any reason to get a desktop.

I think Nvidia in particular, and AMD to a lesser extent, might have a bit of a problem in a couple of years if the desktop PC market gets eviscerated.

The next gen chips showing up in laptops first is just going to make that worse. IIRC the desktop segment lost 4-5% of overall client PC market share in 2020 putting it around 17%. Lose that kind of share again, and desktop will become almost irrelevant. OFC, they now own ARM, so...

Mining is to blame for that. Posters can come in here and spout off about global pandemic or whatever other reasons but anyone with an IQ north of a potato knows this gpu shortage is due to mining.

I substantiated it with additional links as well: https://www.merriam-webster.com/words-at-play/could-couldnt-care-less

I really don't think merriam webster needs an introduction.

Yes, but the mining and crypto bubble is probably a side-effect of the pandemic. Lots of bubbles being blown, this is just one.

Sorry for bump. However, I would just like to thank everyone for the very entertaining arguments conducted here in this thread about grammar. I'm aware of the fact that on the internet no one is ever wrong. But, the amount of effort contributed here was simply amazing. And, the responses were spot on hilarious. Sometimes it's just better to bite the bullet, but then that would be boring.

As for an actual contribution to the discussion: If my GTX 970 goes out, I'll just use integrated graphics and wait. It should be enough to play many games, just not many of the new ones. I should be able to say "I'm going to build a new PC" and add everything I want to the cart that same day. Games these days aren't all that great to begin with. And if some of them are, then they are worth waiting for. Besides, there's so many games that have been made, it's hard to imagine becoming bored when playing only the classics.
