NVIDIA Updates Broadcast to Remove Room Echo, Pet Noise, and Video Noise

NVIDIA updated the NVIDIA Broadcast software to version 1.2, to include even more features that the company claims can transform any room into a home-studio. The latest version can remove room echo, audio reverb/echo caused by the walls of the room, to put out clear voice. It can also detect and remove certain kinds of pet noises from the background, so your doggo doesn't mess with an important call at work. Lastly, the video post-processing tech has been improved to reduce video noise stemming from sub-optimal lighting conditions or low web-cam resolutions. NVIDIA Broadcast can also be integrated with popular streaming platforms such as OBS, AVerMedia, and Notch.

Honestly its pretty good

only negative is that if you have something actively using the audio device, GPU clocks ramp up to full (say, if you're idle in a discord channel)

The new version is still very inefficient on RTX cards. With the initial RTX voice release my 3080 versus a 1050ti comparison showed that the 3080 consumed 70 freaking watts more, that is three times the amount 1050ti consumed! For the same noise removal performance. The 1050ti did not even clock up, wheras 3080 went up to its non-boost sealing; it's ridiculous.

No changes on my 3080 with this version either, Nvidia would argue the broadcast application or the RTX voice on RTX cards performs better I'm sure, go PR, right? But the simply don't perform any differently for the original noise removal feature and it's maddening using this on the 3080 as a result; it actually makes the fans spin.

Additionally, the new version still has no support for virtual cameras, such as OBS camera, Fujifilm X webcam, etc. I would at least love this to be included since those are the cameras I use but the power consumption on RTX cards would be my biggest issue.

Seriously, same noise cancellation performance for 1/3rd the power. Maddening.

Which is strange considering that it does not use the GPU to process audio... As nVidia was caught out in yet another one of their lies regarding this technology a while ago.

How are we supposed to blame the dog when a fart is audible, if they remove pet noise?

Interesting, this happened to me when RTX Voice first launched, but I have not seen it happen since Broadcast was released (on both a 20series and 30 series). I had just assumed they figured out the cause and fixed it when integrating into Broadcast. My use case is with Discord only though, I have not tried it with any other software.

reddit says theres a 30 second timer, if no activity for 30 seconds it idles again

The catch is if you have a program actively using it, you could waste power for no reason if you arent careful
