Intel is likely preparing to launch its 10 nm "Tiger Lake" processor on the desktop platform. momomo_us discovered the existence of at least four new processor SKUs in Intel's ARK pages. At least one of these is marked as a desktop chip. What isn't clear, is whether these are Socket LGA1200 chips, like "Rocket Lake-S," or whether these are FC-BGA chips that have been adapted for specific desktop use-cases, such as NUCs. At the heart of these chips is the new 10 nm "Tiger Lake" 8-core/16-thread silicon, which packs 8 "Willow Cove" CPU cores, 24 MB of shared L3 cache, and a Gen12 Xe LP iGPU that has 32 EUs.

The common theme with the processor model numbering with these SKUs is the brand extension "B," next to model numbers we commonly associate with "Rocket Lake-S" SKUs. Another commonality is TDP. All four SKUs are marked as 65-Watt chips, including the part that has an unlocked multiplier. The lineup is led by the Core i9-11900KB, an 8-core/16-thread chip with Thermal Velocity Boost frequency of up to 5.30 GHz, and base frequency of 3.30 GHz. The Core i7-11700B lacks an unlocked multiplier, but interestingly features TVB, and retains the core-count and cache amount of the i9-11900KB. It is clocked at speeds of up to 5.30 GHz. The Core i5-11500B is a 6-core/12-thread part, with 12 MB of L3 cache, and the same 5.30 GHz boost, set via TVB. The Core i3-11100B is a 4-core/8-thread part with 8 MB L3 cache, and is likely based on the 4-core "Tiger Lake" die, with its iGPU cut down. The clocks remain the same. It remains to be seen how Intel markets these parts.

If it's desktop, I wonder how bad it'll throttle due to power limits.

That is one weird thing. The other one is package size, which is 37.5 x 37.5 mm for Rocket Lake (the size of LGA1200), but 42 x 28 mm for Tiger Lake. Maybe this is another mobile-derivative chip with a new socket?

Strange, it says desktop on what I think is US page:
Might be a typo, might be a hybrid chip. We'll have to check later to be sure.

This release seems like a step forward for Intel and is their first release in years to get excited about! Took them a while, but they got there. Now for the benchmarks to see how they stack up against AMD. This will be interesting.

Up TDP-d mobile chips on BGA.

Probably made for some SFF/Thin client stuff for OEMs.

Most probably the chips that failed to comply with the power/performance restrictions for mobile use ended up to go into prebuilt PCs.

Benchmark Scores I once clocked a Celeron-300A to 564MHz on an Abit BE6 and it scored over 9000.
This will be for SFF/thin clients and AIO builds most likely - I wouldn't expect a socketed processor so these are just low-TDP chips derived from the laptop parts to go in crappy OEM proprietary form factors that lack room for desktop-level cooling. They'll be 28W "desktops" but the only truth in that word is that they are for use on top of a desk, and not on your lap.

The previous B-class SKUs like these went into the 2018 Mac Minis (Coffee Lake) and were very similar to the regular Desktop CPUs of the same number (Core i5-8500B = Core i5-8500). They were 65W only parts and went into a system (Mac Mini) that previously only hosted M and H-class mobile parts in a USFF chassis (OK and a single crappy U-class part I happen to have on my desk here).

Same target system, uh except that Apple went with their own CPU this time. Who are these for?

Like others have said, these are likely primarily for AIOs. That is the biggest part of the desktop segment, so it would make sense that after releasing the H35 (biggest laptop segment) and H45 (next biggest laptop segment) that the largest part of the desktop segment would be next -and that is AIOs.

This is interesting and a good move for Intel IMO, but not very useful for most of the folks that haunt these forums as they typically want LGA / AM upgradable socket systems with discrete GPUs.

That could be confirmed by the different package size I pointed out earlier.
