AMD CEO Dr Lisa Su takes centerstage to demonstrate the latest from AMD. These include announcements from nearly all of the company's business lines, including Ryzen processors, EPYC enterprise processors, Radeon graphics, and more.

02:14 UTC: AMD is all about high-performance - Dr Su

02:15 UTC: Nearly 100 EPYC based server solutions, and over 400 EPYC-powered cloud instances, by 2022

02:17 UTC: Leading cloud providers rely on AMD EYPC-based servers, and e-commerce platforms choose EPYC-powered instances.

02:17 UTC: We currently hold 220 server performance world records—Dr Su

02:18 UTC: AMD 3rd Gen EPYC "Milan" processors beat Xeon "Ice Lake-SP," Dr Su posts benchmarks. Two servers are compared, which are bound by the same SLA (service level agreements), running an e-commerce transaction workload. The Intel server is shown being unable to keep up with requests within the SLA. The EPYC server has up to 50% higher Java operation throughput than the competition.

02:32 UTC: AMD Zen 3 and RDNA2 graphics architectures lead the company's IP portfolio. Big announcements expected.

02:33 UTC: AMD Announces the Ryzen 5000G desktop APU, based on "Zen 3" microarchitecture and "Cezanne" silicon.

02:35 UTC: The Ryzen 7 5600G matches or beats the Intel Core i7-11700 "Rocket Lake" at gaming

02:37 UTC: Rather steep prices for these chips, but you've to consider the CPU core-counts, the monolithic silicon design (lower latencies), and the "Zen 3" IPC. Available August 5, 2021.

02:38 UTC: Tesla Model X and Model S to feature RDNA2 graphics chips. Maybe powers the user interface, not known if the IP is leveraged for Autopilot.

02:40 UTC: Confirmed, Ryzen + Radeon to power the infotainment system, including AAA gaming (combined 10 TFLOP/s compute power). Tesla lives up to its reputation of being a toymaker.

02:41 UTC: The graphics IP partnership between AMD and Samsung is for "several years." This means several future generations of Exynos SoCs to feature Radeon graphics IP.

02:43 UTC: Scott Herkelmann takes centerstage to announce the Radeon RX 6000M mobile graphics based on the RDNA2 architecture, and full DirectX 12 Ultimate readiness.

02:47 UTC: AMD RDNA2 architecture lose lesser performance in power-constrained scenarios such as mobile gaming (on battery), and so the solutions are competitively faster.

02:50 UTC: AMD Radeon RX 6000M series graphics solutions: RX 6800M with 12 GB memory and 2,560 stream processors; RX 6700M with 10 GB memory and 2,304 stream processors; and RX 6600M with 2,048 stream processors and 8 GB memory.

02:53 UTC: The RX 6800M utilizes its higher energy efficiency to get ahead of the RTX 3080 Mobile. It gets better when playing on battery power.

02:54 UTC: It's finally here! FidelityFX Super Resolution (FSR). Comes in 5 presets, with performance gains anywhere between 50-200%. Released through GPUOpen for all gamers. Based on a spatial upscaling algorithm.

02:59 UTC: FSR enabled on all Radeon GPUs, "Polaris" and forward.

03:01 UTC: Frank Azor unveils the AMD Advantage program: AMD to work closely with laptop designers to build "great gaming laptops," that use AMD processors and GPUs.

03:14 UTC: Dr Su wrapped things up by detailing that the company is on course to implementing 5 nm silicon fabrication node on schedule. "Zen 4" in 2022.

03:15 UTC: 3D chiplet architecture for future high-performance products. Designed in collaboration with TSMC.

03:17 UTC: A 3D vertical cache one of the first applications of this new 3D packaging technology. "Zen 3+" will likely feature a 64 MB L4 cache stacked right on top of the CCD, with structural silicon to level it up.

03:19 UTC: Here's a prototype "Zen 3" CCD with the stacked 64 MB cache. In total, you get 96 MB of cache per CCD, or 192 MB on a dual-CCD Socket AM4 package.

03:20 UTC: 3D Vertical Cache has a profound performance impact (+12% in gaming workloads, 15% on average):

03:24 UTC: "Zen 3+" using 3D Vertical Cache mass-production by the end of 2021. A 15% gaming performance gain almost constitutes a new generation in itself, before "Zen 4" arrives in 2022.

I'm excited with FidelityFX on the older GPUs. Hopefully it will make a difference for does of us who can't get our hands on the newer products. That 3d chip technology also sounds good hopefully it will help boost performance even more.

If they hit shelves at MSRP around what I paid for my 4650G (~$330CAD) I might actually swap mine for one as well.

The fact that no attention has been paid to Vega is disappointing, but FSR looks promising. There's big gains from running DDR4-4000+ in addition to a 2000MHz+ iGPU OC on these APUs. I'm running 2100MHz IF and 2275MHz Vega 7, looking forward to if a 5600G can best that.

That said, not sure what the ROP count means for FSR gains (still pitiful 8).

Renoir didn't receive official support on B450 boards, wouldn't expect its successor Cezanne to be any different.

the official term per Lisa Su is now FSR. FSR vs DLSS is the new battle of the century boys!! one is proprietary!!! the other one buys you a beer at the pub!!!! This is FSR you're talking about? I thought it interesting they mentioned enabling FSR all the way back to the RX 500 series? That's pretty cool. I actually still love those RX 580's.

You know Lynx...I don't want to derail the thread, but I saw your comment about " getting out into nature and putting a down payment on a campervan" in the For Sale section and wanted to mention...I think that is a GREAT idea! I hope everything works out for you!

Renoir didn't receive official support on B450 boards, wouldn't expect its successor Cezanne to be any different.

When I look at MSI's compatibility list for my motherboard, all of the Renoir processors are on there. Not to mention...the release of the two processors into the Retail channel looks pretty official to me. Dr. Su mentioned....she heard the DIYer's "Loud and Clear".

These were my thoughts...a drop in upgrade to my current setup.

Interesting, didn't realize it changed. My old B450 ITX board lacked Renoir support (but supported Vermeer) up to March of this year in AGESA 1200, seemed to be the case for other B450s as well. I've had my chip since November. On B550 support has been there since AGESA 1081 I think.

$259USD works out to about $310CAD or so, add about $10-20 and it's spot on what I paid. Looks like a great deal, can probably pass my 4650G off to my mother too as she's been wanting something ~5L or less in size, like my HT5.

I can't imagine people will be fighting me to pick up an APU when these hit stores  but then again, maybe the GPU shortage will have a lot of people desperate

edit: oh WHOOPS August 5th lol that's still wayyyy off

tabascosauz...

Perhaps if you're picking up a new motherboard you could take a look at the one in my system specs. It's been very forgiving/solid for me. I love mine.

MSI B450I GAMING PLUS MAX WIFI

It's a newer revision...AND...it can be found cheaper elsewhere. I paid $110 on ebay.

If you're wanting a case under 5l, maybe the Streacom DB1 would fit the bill? Love the HT5.

ah I was just having bit of fun, lol

but yes I agree. haha

I have to admit, FSR not being proprietary does make me super excited though. I really wish Nvidia would stop... well for the betterment of gamers just make DLSS 2.0 open source, let AMD use it right now, it would encourage entire game industry to go to DLSS 2.0, it would help everyone... and its not like Nvidia isnt going to sell graphics card... its a duopoly situation, both companies are always going to sell out... its just way of the world...

just nice to see AMD still having the gamers united attitude.
