This is AMD's first launch of FSR, maybe it has to go through a similair process if it ends up not being great out of the gate.
I appreciate the clarification, I see what you mean and agree that I'll personally want to make up my own mind, see it with my one eyes, and afford it time to mature. Even IF there is a quality reduction, if they get the balance of performance re-gained right (ie, better results than simply rendering at lower res+sharpen) it could still be an absolute monster of a feature.
Now DLSS 2.0 is out and people are defending it like its a religion when its just a newer version of that initial poorly working concept.
I can agree with that sentiment to an extent tho, because (for lack of a better term) haters, still have that taste of terrible 1.0 in their mouth, and a vast number of them probably don't even own an RTX card and use/see 2.0 with their own eyes, lump it in the same bucket and crap on it. Turns out it's actually pretty good, and well worth enabling in 2.0 form.
I'd liken it to a new car coming out, lets say the 2019 'sports car' launched and was super duper underwhelming, didn't live up to the way the company marketed it at all. Back to the drawing board, now the 2021 'sports car' from the same company is out and is MUCH better, people that bought the new one will tell you how awesome it is, and freely admit the 2019 model was crap, but some will just associate that name with the poor one that launched first.
Nvidia on the other hand has a legion of fanboys who will, unpaid, convince the world that any slight problem someone has with a game or there PC is the lack of Nvidia in it and will push....recommend buying Nvidia over anything else.
I hear what you're saying, and I absolutely cannot deny it as I've seen it, and I can only speak for what I see with my own eyes, but my experience of forums/the internet and AMD vs Nvidia, I see your quoted example a heck of a lot less than (and I'm paraphrasing and exaggerating here..), Nvidia are greedy/shady/evil/bad for gamers and I'll NEVER support them, and AMD can do no wrong/is our savour/gets a pass. AMD knows this and try reasonably hard to play into that strong hand as much as they can, where again 'unpaid' fans are doing a lot of their marketing work for them, and credit to them, they'd be foolish not to.
Perhaps we both see different things, perhaps our own biases come into play too, and I am not trying to start a war with you, just agree that people at the extremes of both sides of the coin are just as bad and problematic and toxic as eachother.
