We recently reported that Samsung would be announcing their next-generation flagship Exynos processor with AMD RDNA2 graphics next month. We heard that the RDNA2 GPU was expected to be ~30% faster than the Mali-G78 GPU present in Galaxy S21 Ultra however according to a new 3DMark Wild Life benchmark it would appear the new processor scores 56% higher. This result would give the upcoming Exynos processor the fastest graphics available in any Android phone even matching/beating out the Apple A14 Bionic found in the iPhone 12. This early performance benchmark paints a very positive picture for the upcoming processor however we still don't know how the score will be affected under sustained load or if this will performance will even be replicated in the final product.

Yeah if I remember right it was delayed due to overheating issues, but I can't remember fully. even if they solve that my guess is battery life will be horrible. i suppose anytime you want to do gaming on phone though it could be like gaming laptops and you just plug it in during game sessions. /shrug

Pretty exciting, chances are I'll end up with a new Galaxy flagship that has RDNA2 in the not too distance future, hopefully it's awesome.

I have a few games loaded on my phone, mostly for travelling when I don't have my PC, would be awesome to boost its capability.

yeah and with xbox game pass/cloud now working on phones too, its a good time to own a really good phone.

i have done lower budget phones all my life, my current samsung a30g has a great picture on it. but i would like to upgrade it... maybe late this year or late next year. haven't decided yet. i think i am going to go with something newly released around $500-$600 range though instead of doing budget.

Just think what it might do with FSR.

I have Stardew Valley on my phone, would be nice if they would make like a cheap plug n play Xbox controller for phones.. or can you use bluetooth to use xbox controller now for games? I have never tried it before... hmm...

Just think what it might do with FSR.
The fact FSR leaves the UI/HUD alone and only messes with the actual game content makes it perfect for phone use, clear text and UI elements with scaling 3D stuff

"craps all over it" would be about right

Yep, this will be much better. Though I can't wait for next switch too. I hope it has beefy insides.

Meh, as an owner of S8, S9, S10 and S20, I would like Samsung to sell flagship phones with Snapdragon chip instead of the crappy Exynos in my country, not interested in stronger GPU.

Yep, I too have had only exynos. I had S2, S6, S10 and S20. Next year will pick up galaxy s with amd gpu if nothing good comes out from different brand.

AMD > Snapdragon everytime and everywhere. Grabs popcorn. Would be cool to see AMD cpu's in phones too.

That flip flop of CPU and GPU is why i quit samsung and moved to pixel phones

Reviewers getting one product and ENTIRE COUNTRIES getting something else with the same name, is something i couldn't stand
(let alone all the complications with the dozens of regional variants with minor changes, but requiring different firmwares, getting updates at different times, etc... the aussie models got abandonded hard at one point)

Here we can see the Exynos 2100 get the shit beaten out of it by others

Even when Exynos with RDNA2 can match/beating Apple A14, it will only be on par with Kirin 9000 and SD 888.

I have an S21 Ultra Exynos and from the frankly extensive research I did before buying, the CPU gap is closer than ever to snapdragon, it's certainly no slouch in day-to-day use and gaming, from my perspective having come from a Oneplus 7 Pro immediately before.

S20 series and some prior ones it seemed like Exynos variants were a legimitately different user experience, significantly (10-20% or more) worse performance at times, with measurably worse battery life to boot.

But I also read they want to go back to custom cores? the proof will be in the pudding, I'll see how the next Exynos + RDNA2 reviews and decide if I want one from there, but I am definitely happier than I thought I'd be with the S21U, after a couple of exceptionally good Oneplus's (but now they've jumped the shark, at least software/updates wise)

Samsung should focus on making the Exynos not so power hungry first, then we talk performance.

That's a very nice start for AMD in mobile graphics. Who knows, we might get a Samsung gaming smartphone in the near future.

I Do Not See any proof that charts ( the title is Blacked Out! ) are for Samsung Exynos SoC with RDNA2 Graphics.

Unfortunately, TechPowerUp team continues to spread technology rumours!

To TechPowerUp team: Why are you doing this? About 10 months ago you've had lots of excuses related to spreading rumours about NVIDIA RTX 30xx-series GPUs...

Uhh... they linked to the source in the post?
Ice universe on Twitter: "Exclusive: Samsung is testing the AMD GPU in the new Exynos, and the Wild Life test on the 3D Mark has scored 8134 points. It is worth mentioning that the CPU in this test is A77 architecture, for reference only. Each test has different results, we need to wait for more results. https://t.co/Rej9vqyP6s" / Twitter

So, because YOU do not see any proof, TechPowerUp is spreading rumors. And you are who exactly?

Worst case scenario, an ARM SOC from an unknown manufacturer with a very powerful integrated GPU of unknown architecture is probably on it's way. That's still good news.
