TechN Announces a GPU Water Cooler for AMD 6800, 6800 XT and 6900 XT and Introduces Pure Copper Into the Line-up

TechN adds a new cooler and new materials to the portfolio of high-end water cooling components. AMDs Radeon RX 6000 graphics cards with reference design receive a full-cover water block made from POM with a pure copper coldplate. For the best in class CPU cooler for AMD AM4, there is also a new pure copper version available. The TechN GPU Waterblock RX 6800/6900 (XT) marks the start of a totally new product line with the combination of the materials POM / Acetal and a pure copper coldplate. The new precision crafted cooler fits AMDs reference PCBs for Radeon RX 6800, RX 6800 XT and RX 6900 XT. It shares the modern industrial design DNA as well as the striving for uncompromised cooling performance with the rest of the product family.

An optional aluminum backplate with sophisticated black anodized finish further demonstrates the relationship with the TechN CPU water blocks, which are now also available in a pure copper version. Pre-orders for the TechN GPU water block for AMD 6000 series are starting now with delivery estimated for mid july. The price for the water block is 136.90 Euros, the TechN GPU backplate for AMD 6000, which improves the performance and gives the cooler a full enclosure look, costs 34.90 Euros. Yeah just hope they have better manufacturing now on their cold plates other than that price/ performance has been pretty decent just wonky if you look that nickel isn't going to stay on very long

Do you actually have the block? Because I have seen that picture, and the user who took that picture has said that it is misleading. If he looks at it physically the fins are not like that. He says its the camera doing some weird post processing shit to the picture due to how tiny the fins are.

It is technically true. All 6800XT and most 6900XT has an OC limit of 2150 on the memory.
But in practice even the unlocked cards with the XTXH core like the OC Formula only manages 2160 on the memory.
With Buildzoid's hardware modded Red Devil XTU managing 2180 so far.
So it really isn't the end of the world.
Same was said about the 2800Mhz core clock limit on the 6800XT, but in reality none of the 6800XT not even the Asus AIO managed to max out the limit.

Here's a techn intel sample other was a amd sample it has the same sort of fins laying down just different angle so this is just poor cooling as fins are cut period
But no I do not have one they never issues a copper cpu block and I'd never buy a nickel plated item from techn after seeing these samples not sure I'd buy a copper either with optimus foundations at the same price and far better milling

I agree.
The memory is not artificially limited.
Many people write here comments without knowing the real facts.
There is some hardware limitation that does not allow memory to OC on many RDNA2 cards that high even not close to 2150MHz limit.
I had multiple 6800XT and 6900XT cards in my hands. Most of them did not work for higher than 2100MHz.

I now own 6900XTU Liquid Devil Ultimate which is XTXH card running at 2750MHz@1750mV on core but it does not OC on memory at all although limit of 2250MHz is much higher than regular 6900XT but even 2050MHz causes score to drop.

I own TechN AMD block since April now but I did not have any issues.
I looked at it closely when I bought it but I don't remember seeing any issues.

In fact I am happier with it compared to my old XSPC Raystorm. It droped about 4°C on temperature on my Curve Optimized 5900X compared to XSPC in Cinebench multi-threaded.

All in all another garage attempt, masking incompetence (lack of coldplate passivation or even plating, RGB illumination, etc.) as elitism. It is just baffling how this consitutes as newsworthy.

As I mentioned in above post memory is not artificially limits but has some hardware limitations that does not allow it to OC that high on many 6800XT/6900XT.
Besides the larger amount of heat on 6800XT and 6900XT are produced by the GPU and VRM and water cooling really is helpful to OC high.

I own 6900XTU Liquid Devil Ultimate which I am operating at 2750MHz@1175mV at 415W core power and 400A TDC without any memory OC.
The memory does not OC at all on my sample without actually degrading performance but the performance is still very great even without memory OC with only GPU OC. Time Spy score close to 22k.
Last time I checked it was place 10 in 3Dmark Time Spy graphic score online compared to other 6900XTs.

It came factory fitted with EK waterblock. At these OC settings even with original watercooler hotspot was hitting 92°C.
I changed from standard thermal past to Lquid Metal and now temperatures are about 15°C lower.
I cannot even image operating my card that high on OC when it did not had waterblock on it with Liquid Metal as past.

Yeah I saw that review and the Guru3d one. It was either this block or the Optimus one, and this one won out due to being able to light it up.

Yeah techn also said they don't bin out bad one because that increases costs pretty lame excuse but yes do share what you get because it can be bad or good maybe 50% chance of either lol
Worst thing about fins laying down is uneven nickel plating
If it were all copper it wouldn't matter that much seeing copper wouldn't flake off now would it.
Even igors shows the same fin issues on both sides it's just fact not camera play lol

Price performance for EU customers is great.

Too busy? Looks ordinary

Ref cards are too easy to make wbs for, try aftermarket, AlhpaCool makes non ref wbs

I have AM4 techn block, some of the fins are wavy but it is still better than optimus, unlike trash I care about performance. He asked for free blocks and then destroyed them when asked to do a review, after everyone complaining he stopped posting on OCN to no one's surprise.

Yeah, im not to worried about it. TechN blocks perform super well and sexy as hell. And Electroless nickel shouldnt be flaking anyways so im not sure where any of that is coming from. He has such a hard on for Optimus and they use the same method for their nickel blocks as TechN does.

I have 2 optimus foundation blocks too and they work great on my HEDT. It's nice we have some new high end brands focused on performance instead of bling, if optimus can fix their stock issues I'll recommend them again.

Im sure its not nearly as bad as it was during the EK CSQ block days. My current one from back then is basically a copper block now. But I had also been running straight dittilled which doesnt help apparently.

Definitely not lol, plus now we know that pt nuke and silver coils also break down nickel plating too which most people ran at the time. I had 2 Supreme HF blocks on my SR-2 rig and they went splotchy.

This new rig im building im going with EK clear fluid and maybe going to try out their dye. But it should be more corrosion resistant than straight distilled, pt nuke, or a kill coil.
