See now your confusing the way it is considered mid-range.. Yes compared to any x16x0 class card it IS in fact a highend card but in the 1950 class it still is nothing more than midrange.. Again its like the 9800 series, the plain 9800 was a midrange for IT's class but considered highend compared to say a 9500 series card but still it was merely a midrange compared to a 9800XT..
Your comparing apples and oranges if you jump between classes like that my friend it would be like saying the 1950XT is lowend compared to a 2900XT.. For the 1950 class the pro is midrange nothing more..

Aren't these categories based on price and not just the specifications of the card? I'd class the X1950 Pro as a mid-range card purely on it's price. So it has more features and faster clock speeds - still cost me the same as my X1600 Pro.

See now you are trying to make it more complicated than it needs to be. Anything marked 9800 was part of the high-end class. You can't say the 9800 was mid-range because it performed worse than the 9800XT and ignore the rest of the generation of graphics cards :banghead:

. The 9800 was a high-end card, which is why it carried the 9800 name, if it was a mid-range card it would have been called a 9600.

And no, it isn't comparing apples and oranges to jump between the x1950 and x1650 etc class, they are the high-end and mid-range classes, that is exactly what we are discussing. The x1950 class is ATI's high-end class, all cards in it are high-end cards, the x1650 class is ATI's mid-range class, all cards in it are mid-range. That is the whole purpose of the class system.

I did change the pro bios for the XT bios
i had the R360 core

So you can make a graphics card it is another name of a graphics card (note i know you can overclock the bios and such) but i thought that the midrange cards of most series were just watered down versions of the higher up cards just with certain parts locked up like system bus speed being 128 instead of 256 or even 512 :wtf:

and so if this is true then that means im gonna be able to buy like a cheap graphics card to run the same way its better counterpart can without having to cool it in any way extra at all, that just doesnt seem right. I figured you could only overclock something without putting in extra cooling only about 100-250 mhz on the cpu?

Thats cause they are different cores, the GT and Pro share the 570 core, the XT is the 580.
