The cracked PC version of Resident Evil 8 Village is just out, and it performs faster than the version people are paying for. The crack removes the Denuvo DRM component, and the game's need for Steam. Digital Foundry tested the performance of the cracked version, comparing it with the original. It found that not only were the frame-rates higher, but also during encounters with enemies, the split-second stutter as an enemy lunges onto you, is gone, as the frame-times have significantly reduced. The Denuvo DRM solution can be implemented by game developers in one of many ways, with varying performance impact, as we detailed in our Denuvo article. It looks like RE8: Village is one of those titles where paying customers have lost the lottery of a fair Denuvo implementation.

AFAIK it was the Capcom DRM which was removed by the cracking team, not Denuvo.
In an update to the MVG video on this topic the following points were posted:

- Capcom DRM is responsible for the performance issues. Denuvo Anti-Tamper , while present, is not the cause of the slowdown issues.
- EMPRESS' crack forces the DRM to accept a fake license. Denuvo Anti-Tamper is still present and running in the cracked version of RE Village and has not been removed.
- I've been informed that the only release to ever remove Denuvo Anti-Tamper was Assassins.Creed.Origins.The.Curse.of.the.Pharaohs.Crack.Only.READNFO-CODEX. All other Anti-Tamper cracks are classified as "bypasses".

This reminds me of what Ubisoft said about Assassin's Creed Origins and Odyssey that there were no performances differences between the original and cracked versions that's the dumbest statement ever.

Going on GoG.com and compare a game there with it's copyright protected versions and there is a differences plus the Assassin's Creed had like 3 different copyrights protections and yes it's gonna slow even the fastest systems down.

*EDIT* I wrote EA but it's still the same because the more layers of protection that's put on the more power the system needs to give a good experience.

Game isn't even good anyway. Played about an hour of it. Movement, controls and the FOV is just terrible.

In an update to the MVG video on this topic the following points were posted:
NOTE:
If the following is accurate it just makes Denovo look even worse.

It's still present (According to the above) in some games, in others it's even running - And there is only one listed instance it was actually removed.
According to the info all the rest at least still has it in the game code.

To be fair:
This is something one would need more proof about and research to be done to establish it as being "True", "False" or somewhere inbetween.
Personally I can't say one way or the other myself but those directly involved with the hacking could - But I woudn't count on it for obvious reason(s).

However:
If it really is accurate, then I don't know how many ways one could say something is just U.S.E.L.E.S.S. but this would seem as one way to do that.

That is why I don't buy new games. Not only do you have to deal with more bugs, pay more, and now you have to put up with performance issue due to bunch of DRMs running.

There are still plenty of great indie developers who haven't subscribed to the DRM craze. Don't wall yourself off from newer games; just research which games do not have DRM and stick to those.

Gotta get those clicks!
Game's been borked on PC for 2 months now and Capcom didn't do a thing about it. It deserves to be talked about either way.

Why would EA defend Ubisoft games?

Then Ubisoft still same shit.

Buy a game made by EA or Ubisoft on steam you get the steam protection, then the other EA or Ubisoft launcher protection and then Denuvo protection it's gonna get even more crazy one day.

Indeed. Steam Australia asking $122 for this game. Dearest game I've seen. RE3 was also total rip at $92 for a 5 hour game that should have been a DLC for RE2 for $10.
