AMD today released the latest version of Radeon Software Adrenalin. Version 21.7.1 beta introduces optimization for F1 2021, with a 6% performance improvement seen at 4K UHD on an RX 6800 XT, over the previous drivers. Support is also introduced for the new Radeon RX 6700M and RX 6600M mobile GPUs.

Among the issues fixed are an Oculus service error preventing the Oculus Link setup from running on machines with RX 5000 and RX 6000 series graphics cards; lighting corruption noticed in Apex Legends with Radeon Boost enabled; AMD User Experience Program consuming abnormally high memory; driver version mismatch between Windows Store and AMD Support versions; high memory usage on some running 3DMark Time Spy; and an image corruption in Carrion with AF enabled.

DOWNLOAD: AMD Radeon Software Adrenalin 21.7.1 beta

Support For
  • AMD Radeon RX 6700M Graphics
  • AMD Radeon RX 6600M Graphics
  • F1 2021: Up to 6% increase in performance in F1 2021 @ 4K Ultra High settings with Raytracing enabled, and up to 26% increase in performance @ 1080p Ultra High settings, Raytracing disabled, using Radeon Software Adrenalin 21.7.1 on the 16 GB Radeon RX 6800XT graphics card, versus the previous software driver version 21.6.2.

Fixed Issues
  • An Oculus service error may be received on Radeon RX 5000 & 6000 series graphics products which prevents the Oculus Link setup software from running.
  • Lighting corruption may be experienced in Apex Legends when Radeon Boost is enabled.
  • Some users may experience elevated memory usage by AMD User Experience Program.
  • A driver mismatch error may appear when two versions of Radeon software (Windows Store & AMD Support versions) are installed on your system.
  • Some users may experience higher than expected memory utilization when running 3DMark Time Spy.
  • While playing Carrion, some users may experience image corruption when Anisotropic Filtering is enabled.
Known Issues
  • Game Compatibility advisor in Radeon Software Experience may incorrectly advise some users their CPU and/or GPU do not meet the minimum requirements to play some games.
  • Resident Evil Village may experience an intermittent application hang or TDR on AMD Radeon VII graphics products in the first mission of the game.
  • Enhanced Sync may cause a black screen to occur when enabled on some games and system configurations. Any users who may be experiencing issues with Enhanced Sync enabled should disable it as a temporary workaround.
  • Connecting two displays with large differences in resolution/refresh rates may cause flickering on Radeon RX Vega series graphics products.
  • Radeon performance metrics and logging features may intermittently report extremely high and incorrect memory clock values.
  • If Ryzen Master is not detected in Adrenalin software after installation, a system restart may be required.
  • If Blue or Black screen is observed in mobile systems, temporarily disable Enhanced sign-in.
  • A Blue or Black screen may be observed after updating to the latest Radeon Software. A workaround is to disable core isolation.
  • Lower than expected performance may be observed on select AMD Athlon mobile systems.

I consider that the stable driver should be released beforing sales of 6600M/6700M. The temp driver on these devices have serious bug.

Even though it was reported to be fixed with the June drivers, the vram running at full speed with high resolution /refresh monitors is still present, can they sort this shit out, it's been 2 years, the last driver to work for me was November 19 whql

My GPU regularly hits 50c just on the desktop /browsing and consumes 25w because of the vram being 1750mhz constantly, instead of 35c and around 8w which is what it will do if I set my monitor to 60hz and the vram downclocks to 200-400mhz

If i'm correct Vram is always running on intended speed. It's just the core clock that lowers down in 2D mode.

Ive never seen my memory clocks go lower in 2D. Frankly i dont care either. If your GPU hits 50 degrees in idle then it's fanstop that you need to disable.

vRAM also has p-states and will typically sit around 200-400mhz when at the desktop, doing non intensive tasks, browsing etc and also lower voltage, it's well known issue with AMD that on high refresh or high resolution panels the vRAM will clock up to it's full 3d clocks and voltage thus increasing power usage and temperature (GDDR6 can run pretty hot and use a fair amount of power) you can set a lower res or refresh rate and see the vram clocks lower which is how they should behave even on higher resolution or refresh as NV cards do, the last working driver to do this was Nov 19 WHQL drivers, all others since have suffered from this issue though not for all users it seems from feedback. I'm sure there was a fix mentioned in the June driver release notes addressing it, but doesn't seem to have fixed it for me, I will try July's, but I'm not holding out for it to be fixed with these either. :ohwell: I'm not concerned with 50c idle temp, nor 25w power usage, it's more an annoyance I know it should be lowering the clock and voltage and running cooler and using less power when most of my time is spent browsing or doing desktop work that doesn't require 3d clocks :banghead:

This is the glorious truth about high refresh monitors unfortunately, 3080's also do this so yeah :(
there's some different points when it will clock the vram higher.

This is also why some phones want to reduce res to 1080P with high refresh cause of vram p-state increase (galaxy s21 for instance)

For some reason my ultrawide monitor @75hz from 2017 wasn't allowing the VRAM to clock lower idling at 32w+. When I connected my 2021 165hz monitor the VRAM started clocking down and using 8w Idle and 12w when streaming media.

Same GPU same drivers just different monitors.

Can the AMD Radeon 620 be used?

What generation is that from?

@markobrian: Some RAM frequency problems in idle seem to be caused by monitors using non-standard timings for high frequency modes (source). That's why some monitors work out of the box (mine included) and some don't. The solution for a lot of people is setting the refresh rate to 120Hz, and for the others it seems to be using the CRU program and setup a custom profile.

Have you reported your finding to AMD or do they know about the fix?

@eidairaman1: They definitely know about it, as the threads with the CRU workaround pop up constantly, but I doubt they will able to fix this for every monitor without some per-monitor workaround or some other weird hacks. Also, CRU might not be a general solution for every monitor out there, but it doesn't hurt to try ... So, 120 Hz first and CRU if it doesn't work.
