AMD Radeon RX 6600 XT & RX 6600 Reportedly Launching August 11th

The AMD Radeon RX 6600 XT and RX 6600 are two upcoming mid-range graphics cards that appear set to launch on August 11th. The Radeon RX 6600 XT is expected to feature all 2048 Stream Processors of the Navi 23 GPU and will be paired with 8 GB of GDDR6 memory. The Radeon RX 6600 will feature the same Navi 23 GPU but with 1792 Stream Processors and will be paired with 4 GB or 8 GB of memory. The Navi 23 GPU is already present in the mobile RX 6600M and the workstation Radeon Pro W6600 which should give an indication of potential performance. We have limited information for the MSRP of the two cards but they will likely come in under 400 USD however final retail prices are unknown. The August 11th date is specifically stated to be the launch day so we will likely see an announcement in the coming weeks.

Update Jul 22nd: We have received an update from YouTuber Coreteks who claims that only the RX 6600 XT will launch on August 11th and that the RX 6600 has been delayed until September or October.

Good to hear that 1080p GPUs are now MSRPing "under 400 USD". Me, an old fool, still remember the days when Polaris launch price was set at 179 USD back in 2016. RIP DIY PC building if 399 USD price tag turns out to be true.

While 5700XT is still a capable 1440p/ semi capable 4K dGPU, 6600XT is likely gonna be beaten by 5700/5700XT and even 2060S/3060 by quite a lot at 1440p and 4K. I can't see how only 32MB infinity cache and 128-bit memory bus could be enough for 1440p let alone 4K gaming.

It sounds like price progression, performance regression to me

At least till the supply issues get straightened out the sub 300 usd GPU market is dead even if these released for 200-250 ish they would be scalped for at least double that till AMD and Nvidia can meet demand.

The problem with MSRP hikes is that they're here to stay even after supply meets demand. Rising profit margins every generation seems to be a new normal nowdays.

I fully expect there to be $199-299 class gpu once demands settles down.... I also fully expect these gpu to suck but at the min they will be better than the 1650 super/RX 5500/570/580....

That's not good enough. 5600XT had MSRP of $279 and was basically 5700 with 2 gigs less vram. 6600XT should be at least on pair with 3060 and cost 299 max. There'll be zero generational progress otherwise. What will likely happen based on specs and leaks is 6600XT beating 3060 at 1080p but losing at 1440p and 4K by substantial margin due to it's bandwidth limitations, but that won't stop AMD from charging 349$ for it. Even rumoured $399 is not out of the question I'm afraid. Lisa has become as greedy as Jensen.

The cheapest current gen gpu right now you can actually buy somewhat easily at retail is 900 usd vs its 480 msrp they would be stupid not to price it at 400+ at least till demand settles. Even if they price it at 300 usd retailers will just bump it to 600+ anyways.

Yeah, that's why I'm saying DIY gaming PC building in nearly dead, reserved for people with I don't give a F about money and nerds selling their kidneys for dGPUs. What gives me some hope is tons of 6700XT GPUs rotting on shelves at our local retailer in Germany priced from 749 to 799€. Maybe mining craze is coming to an end after all.

Also, new leak suggests 6600 (XT) has 1*8 pin power connector, so it's probably a 180W design

I think, a card with 128bit memory bandwidth and cheapish heatsink and fans is already considered inflated at 200 $/€. It looks like a cheap rx460/470 hybrid, and those were 100-170 $/€ cards 5 years ago.

While I don't disagree, look back at the radeon HD3850 to HD4850. Basically 2x performance for roughly the same price. Another one the radeon HD 6850 to the RX470, 300% more performance, 400% more ram, and 6 years of inflation, but the launch price was about the same, not 300% more.

I think the extra transistors for ray tracing isn't helping, nor has the pandemic.

I would obviously expect to pay more for more performance, but how much more is the question?

I bought my 6850 when the 7850 came out so I got it for $140 cad, I got my RX 480 on the mining upswing for $330 cad, so I went from a 1GB card to an 8GB card with approx. 350% more performance for about 2.36x in $$ I thought that was sort of fair, although it would have been closer to 2x if not for the mining inflation.

So going by that, I am willing to pay $600 cad for a card if I get 16GB of ram and 350% more performance than my RX480.

However my typical budget is around $330 CAD ish, ($270 usd) so at the very least when a card of that value gets released I would expect the same 8GB of ram, less power use from die shink, and at least 125%-150% performance increase due to architecture, for roughly the same $330cad as my RX 480.

Traditionally CPUs pricing have been the same as in as technology progresses you would get more performance for the same amount of money. I think I paid $300 for a 3200+ clawhammer s754 back in 2003. 4 years ago I got a ryzen 1700 for the same price.

So it's just been the norm for so long, which is why it's understandable for people to be disappointed in todays current pricing.

the msrp price of the 3060 is 330$ , this 6600xt should be faster than 3060 at 1080p and same or a bit slower at 1440p , the 3060 should be faster when using RT and both have same vram.
Would be best if this 6600xt msrp at 280$ i would not pay the same or higher amount of money for same performance and less features though. Rtx 3000 is worse at power consumption but pretty impressive at undervolt
