Because its not a simple matter of NVidia/AMD/Intel overcharging for their hardware. Demand is much greater than the supply not just from crypto-mining, but because of shortages caused by the pandemic and who knows what else. This is basic economics that is not going to be remedied by a "basic solution" of banding together and refusing to buy at said prices; especially when you have "needs" vs. "wants" that have varying degrees when it comes to how much money individuals are willing to part with to get those needs or wants.I think of it this way, if the market does not like the prices and the majority does not buy, then prices will go down. I for example won't buy a 6600XT for more than $300 and that's after verifying that it is considerably faster(30 - 35%) than the 5600XT.
Hey, if nvidia/amd/intel set prices and a lot of people buy, what incentive do they have to lower them?, you can't blame them. Like someone said, their business is earning as much money as they can.
Why do you think gpus like rtx 3090 exist, because people buy them.
Why do you think more and more sexy women are creating onlyfans accounts, because there are TRUCKLOADS of men willing to pay. It's not their fault (to a certain extent). If men didn't pay for it, it would no exist.
Moore's Law is Dead, reckons 6900XT successor will blow out to $2K becuase Nvidia won't be able to touch it for performance and gamers have clearly shown they will pay absurd prices at the high end. He also says both companies are trying to kill of the budget GPU and AMD will refer people to their APU's if that's what they want. Not sure what Nvidia's plan is.What I'm most interested in is how current GPU pricing situation will influence future gpu prices. We may be in for a rude awakening...

Whether, there's a need for x o y item, or you have enough disposable income, epenis, etc, the result is the same, item is bought. There is people willing to pay whatever price in order to get it. GPUs have been x2, x3 and x4 the msrp and people still buy them, then amd/nv/int will keep rising the prices, until the market puts a stop to it. I'm not saying people should band up and not buy(lol). I was just talking about myself. I do not have any ridiculous need to have a gpu at whatever cost just to play a few games. So i don't buy until prices get back to normal levels.Because its not a simple matter of NVidia/AMD/Intel overcharging for their hardware. Demand is much greater than the supply not just from crypto-mining, but because of shortages caused by the pandemic and who knows what else. This is basic economics that is not going to be remedied by a "basic solution" of banding together and refusing to buy at said prices; especially when you have "needs" vs. "wants" that have varying degrees when it comes to how much money individuals are willing to part with to get those needs or wants.
Unfortunately, its a dog eat dog world and people in general are scumbags from the shareholders expecting to profit in all of this, NVidia/AMD/Intel turning a blind eye to it since they're still making record profits, to the numerous shitlords in the supply chain that are taking advantage by hoarding & scalping.
RTX 3090 exists because there's a need for it, and not just for big screen high-res gaming. Ask any knowledgeable person that renders in Iray whether they would want to use an RTX A5000 vs. an RTX 3090 in their workflow, and they will tell you an RTX 3090 every time. While I'm sure there's no shortage of people buying 3090's that is complete overkill for their use(like buying a racecar to drive back & forth to work), there are plenty who buy these cards that can take advantage of the extra horse power.
Porn has been around a lot longer than onlyfans, and the only reason some women are turning to it for easy $$$ might be due to how simple it is for them to publish their own "material". Its no different than taking a Deviant Art type of site and making it pay-per-view. This just shows that individuals will do whatever they can to make easy/fast $$$ ranging from porn, scalping graphics cards, to performing a bunch of Jackass-type escapades and making a movie from it.
They can price what they want, but how well they sell it is another issue. There will be people willing to pay that kind of money for GPUs, but I don't think the number is high to begin with. The trend is the same with every generation of GPU where halo products don't sell well. RTX 3090 may have buck the trend somewhat because the massive amount of VRAM is good for some professional applications, and less for gaming. So that opens up another market for the RTX 3090, which is probably the reason for the higher demand.Moore's Law is Dead, reckons 6900XT successor will blow out to $2K becuase Nvidia won't be able to touch it for performance and gamers have clearly shown they will pay absurd prices at the high end. He also says both companies are trying to kill of the budget GPU and AMD will refer people to their APU's if that's what they want. Not sure what Nvidia's plan is.

Man you hit the nail on the freaking head, I never understood any of this nonsense. I'm like $50?? You're going to rage over $50? Rebuild your YouTube channel from the ground up, as you clearly need revise your channel's theme. They are a business after all. The problem is people want AMD to remain second rate so they can keep prices down while they buy Nvidia GPUs instead. How does that help AMD create better products if everyone wants them to remain the budget brand while still complaining that their products are second rate. People are so fickle. But if Nvidia and Intel can charge high prices while on top then so can AMD.
I will never complain about AMD raising prices because its been done by the competitors for far too long now. Heck people had a problem with a $50 price increase for a better product of the same level. Never understood the rage about paying $50 more to go from 3600x to 5600x. Like the performance difference is crazy.
Btw, I think they handled the CPU market quite fine. They need all the money they can get to battle 2 giants.

This may be true when taken to the extreme, but you are failing to acknowledge all the other variables with operating a business and the fact that more advanced nodes are not getting cheaper. You are ignoring price hike by the company supplying the voltage regulator, the other company supplying capacitors, who in turn has to raise their prices to buy raw material that is in high demand. It is not as simple as you make it out to be. Companies want to make money and they can’t price gouge you unless you are willing to pay too dollar for their products. They have to walk a fine line between margin and consumer demand.I think of it this way, if the market does not like the prices and the majority does not buy, then prices will go down. I rather have a 5000 ball joint gpu which will never run out of them due to thermal cycling, so...HBM is still used on the high end, but its not looking like its a cost-effective solution. Saving $50 here and there off the bill of materials is clearly better than the benefits of HBM over GDDR6.

AMD or Nvidia or Intel are not to blame for high prices, the people that accept those ridiculous prices and buy the products are the ones that ruin it for everyone else.
For anyone complaining about higher prices, AMD ate the higher prices, now stop complaining you ungrateful lot of PC users!I think of it this way, if the market does not like the prices and the majority does not buy, then prices will go down.
