I'd add to that that miners and others would seize the chance to get those at low price, leaving the rest of us with nothing again.Or unless Intel desides to severely undercut Amd and NV in order to get some marketshare. Which I doubt, because... Intel.
Short of heavy handed regulation across at least China, Europe and USA that makes it die off or at least stop the constant surge of new cryptocurrencies, I think it's unlikely too. These prices are here to stay unless something huge happens to crypto (which is highly unlikely).
Granted, I'm just gaming at 1080p 60 Hz, but I'm still using a RX 580 and honestly the only reason I actually want a new graphics card for is folding@homeI keep getting surprised how well a 1080 still runs at 3440x1440.
I mean, sure, more bells and whistles might be nice, but like I'm not bothered.
The problem is that they're constantly creating new coins, so it might as well be a never ending process.Crypto is designed to be increasingly harder to mine. As long as that rate exceeds that of GPUs' HP, there's a natural threshold where GPUs will stop being up to the task. Whether that is 1 or 10 years away, I couldn't say.
