Battlefield 2042 Delayed to November 19

Electronic Arts Inc. today announced a change to the launch date of Battlefield 2042, which will now release worldwide on November 19, 2021. EA is reiterating our net bookings guidance for fiscal year 2022 provided on August 4, 2021, despite this change in launch date for Battlefield 2042.

Battlefield 2042 will now launch worldwide on November 19 for Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and PC via Origin, Steam and the Epic Games Store.

Below is a message shared by DICE Studio GM Oskar Gabrielson with the Battlefield fan community today, announcing the change to the launch date:

We've made the decision to shift the launch of Battlefield 2042. The game will now be released worldwide on November 19th, 2021.

Building the next generation of Battlefield during a global pandemic has created unforeseen challenges for our development teams. Given the scale and scope of the game, we had hoped our teams would be back in our studios together as we move towards launch. With the ongoing conditions not allowing that to happen safely, and with all the hard work the teams are doing from home, we feel it is important to take the extra time to deliver on the vision of Battlefield 2042 for our players.

Your enthusiasm for the game has been very inspiring. We believe in the game we're making, and we thank you for your patience as we put some finishing touches into the experience.

Updates on the Open Beta will be coming later this month.

but BOTS bots means its the first BF game thats good since the *ACTUALLY 2nd game* not the game called the 2nd game

Iirc bf Vietnam had bots and bf2 did not

Why they set optimistic realise dates than change, why not do the opposite.
But hopefully they'll fix the major problems before launch, it seems every game now needs few patches to make playable.

Iirc bf Vietnam had bots and bf2 did not

BF2 had bots for a handful maps, but only in their 16-player versions. The excuse at the time was that bots would swamp the CPU (which were still mostly single-core), when really the reason what nobody would play online, or even buy the game (pirate instead), if they had 32-player maps with bots. But then BF2 had such a vibrant modding community that bot-maps were added for pretty much all maps, and of all sizes.

Absolutely bonkers decision to launch sandwiched right between CoD Vanguard and Halo Infinite, and on the same week new Warzone map launches. Titanfall lessons have not been learned it seems. I'd just launch it with a million bugs on the original date - it's not like Battlefield is famous for ever launching in a complete state anyway. Or at least push it out to next year, I dunno, what they gonna do in this extra month. Maybe shareholders would have eaten them alive if they pushed into 2022.

Not surprised tbh. But was expecting better from DICE this time around. I have not a single recollection of game(s) drastically improved by delays, specially any game from EA. Mass Effect Andromeda, Anthem, Battlefield V all were delayed. While BFV wasn’t as bad was the other two, it still couldn’t escape the usual "Only In Battlefield" post-launch bugs despite the delay. Then the six to eight months of no content despite claiming to deliver constant content drip akin to live service games. In my eyes, delay means just that. A bandaid to patch up things with underlying problems just to release because of shareholder scrutiny.
I'd love tp be proven wrong but I'm not holding my breath. Seems like my decision of waiting for beta instead pre-ordering on impulse was the right decision.

No interest in a SP when the series is predominantly MP?

Genuinely curious as to what you thought the last good SP campaign in a BF game was. I've played them all, and I gotta go back over a decade to BC2 to find a good campaign.

Well, had he spelled it as 'damn', I'd not care, but using caps mean he'd emphasized or 'shouted' it, that irks me. But hey, I'm just being me, okay?

As for SP, I do not play, and have never ever played COD or BF games online, preferring to play SP campaigns, again, that's just me and my preference. The SP campaigns can be long, or short, extremely good, or rather meh, I don't care, as long as I get to play in SP mode. Again, that's just me being me, and my preference. You guys love MP online mode, more power to you!

Diablo 2 is gonna keep me occupied for awhile. No biggie. Also, after the horrible written BFV SP campaign, I could care less for another SP. Way to kill SP Dice.
