Intel plans to release eight new 45nm desktop CPUs and counter attack AMD's triple-core CPUs, to be launched in January, 2008. First to arrive will be the QX9650, an Extreme Edition part featuring four cores clocked at 3Ghz, 12MB of L2 cache (6MB per die) and a 130W TDP. This one will be launched in November and will hit the stores soon after. With 2007 gone, Intel will have seven more CPUs, four dual-cores and three quad-cores ready.

Allow me to add the missing details.

Quad-Cores:
QX9650 - Unlimited Multiplier, 1333Mhz FSB (9x stock), 12MB cache
Q9550 - 8.5x Multiplier, 1333Mhz FSB, 12MB cache
Q9450 - 8x Multiplier, 1333Mhz FSB, 12MB cache
Q9300 - 7.5x Multiplier, 1333Mhz FSB, 6MB cache

Dual-Cores:
E8500 - 9.5x Multiplier, 1333Mhz FSB, 6MB cache
E8400 - 9x Multiplier, 1333Mhz FSB, 6MB cache
E8300 - 8.5x Multiplier, 1333Mhz FSB, 6MB cache
E8200 - 8x Multiplier, 1333Mhz FSB, 6MB cache

But doesn't anyone think that this quite stupid on Intel's behalf to reveal these CPUs 4 months ahead of their launch? I mean, now I have no motivation to buy the Q6600, at all. I'm still going to, but.. darn..

I know what you mean savior but one plus to the intel quads being seperated is that I think that they may create a little less heat since their both seperated rather than all in one piece though thats not the point and lets not get into a huge discussion about that.

Anywhos I thought that when Intel releases Penryn that they would all be Quad cores?

Also as great as 45nm is seriously why are the power usages risng again lol. I don' think that this will be as big of a jump for Intel as when it released the Core 2 Duo procs.

LOL they go from 65 nm to 45 nm and yet the power usage increases, also seriously at those temps Im a bit worried that these procs might not overclock that well.

Also if the other E6### series procs still stay and the prices go down when Penryns released I might just try to buy myself an E6800:cool::cool:

that TDP for that bad ass quad core extreme is really nice.
