I am trying those drivers on Windows 10 right now.830MB (496.13, W11) vs 701MB (472.12, W10) vs 608MB (472.12, W7). LOL. Where?...
Confirmed. It used to be the case where you could download a normal driver instead of a DCH simply by deleting -dch from the URL, ie, turn...
desktop-win10-win11-64bit-international-dch-whql.exe into
desktop-win10-win11-64bit-international-whql.exe
but this no longer works. On the other hand, I had zero intention of "upgrading" to W11 anyway and play few new AAA games, so nothing of value is lost by staying on v472.12 for quite a while yet (which is supported for security updates through to 2024).
The cool feature added is the Shader Cache Size control :
Sorry, I was lazy to change the language in english for the screenshot x)
"The shadow (or shader) compilation for applications can be ignored if the result of this compilation is in the cache. This will reduce stutters and start-up time of applications."
So far it seems it's working, lowering little loadings in AC: Valhalla.
