The ASUS Dual Radeon RX 6600 incorporates the latest graphics card technology from ASUS to power up any DIY builds. I don't understand why this is such a big card for a 132W product.
The 170W 3060 Dual I have is 170W and is shorter both front to back and top to bottom.

The 130W 5500XT cards were tiny by comparison; The reference/OEM model was a single-fan short card, as were several of the popular AIB models.

Thought this was an Ares card or something at first. AMD dropping crossfireX has made some AIB partner models' naming a little confusing. Previously, the 'dual' moniker for cooking would be at the end of the product name.

Yep its a misleading name, some might mistake it as the card having two GPUs instead of referencing the two fans.

Probably cheaper for Asus to reuse the fan/shroud config they already use on a ton of their cards than to place orders on another one specifically for one SKU of a low-end card. Materials shortage still ongoing, etc. I think we'll definitely see more smaller versions going against each other when Nvidia decides to finally release 3050.

On the other hand, personally I don't mind having a larger heatsink and a dual-fan solution on ANY card, because it just makes them quieter.

EDIT: Just checked and Asus actually has smaller heatsinks on current high-end cards, and even Mini versions of 3060s so, yeah, weird.

The good news is sometimes we get better PCB's and coolers on low TDP cards, making them cool and quiet... and then we get an identical looking higher wattage chip on the same PCB and cooler that overheat and sound like my ex complaining

Well, yes. I just assumed they'd re-use a smaller, cheaper heatsink than this. At the very least, it would make more sense to put the bigger heatsink on the 170W 3060 and use the 3060's smaller heatsink on this 132W 6600.

I'm not complaining, just curious why they made it bigger than an already-overkill cooler. The smaller 3060 Dual model is already a vastly more capably cooler than the single-fan 3060 variants.

Even at the reference MSRP 329$ it was already shamefully overpriced, in this market maybe it makes sense, materials are way up in price and in short supply, but price/performance went completely down the drain this generation. We already had 1080p cards for this price and bellow.

Dual has been around since RX 400 or R9 300. Dual is just 2 fans.

PCBs act as a heat dissipator as well. Besides these Dusl cards are just bottom bin cards like those from gigabyte/msi...

That's not entirely true, AIB barely can bin anything since AMD/Nvidia already do that at the factory. In the specific case of the 6600 this cooler is already overkill, instead of spending more for TUF/ROG (that some times don't exist on lower end cards) it's better to buy the next tiered card (in this case the 6600XT or the 5700/5700XT from last year)
