I believe it is using TSMC 6FF vs the 7FF node that the rx 6000 series is using. Note that's actually two gen improvements in area efficiency for a die vs 7FF (Zen 3 uses 7FF+). However, they are updating 7nm nodes to 6nm for production so they lose the 7nm node.
Theoretically that will mean about 35% more chips per 300mm wafer, so there is a supply increase. Area in this case is defined as "... measured in mm2 and refers to the total area of silicon that is required to make a physical implementation of the IP. "
Still these prices are crap. I'm still waiting for my $399 3060 Ti.
