Not really. Google's move was backed by an actual separation of various divisions in order to push them towards being viable on their own. Facebook's move is more about the addition of something else (TBD) to the already existing divisions. In both cases, the existing divisions and products kept their name though.

Suggestion: once Zuck launches the metaverse, someone hacks their servers, fills it with bots modelled off all their FB data, lets this simulation run, and sequesters it entirely from FB, Whatsapp, IG and all the other features people actually use. The FB and Meta boards are replaced by impersonators recruited from NGOs focusing on privacy, human rights, digital wellbeing, and other relevant fields. Zuck is never told, instead left believing that the metaverse has tons of users. In time, he will stop leaving it, becoming ever more sequestered and convinced that everyone on earth is now living their lives purely in VR. He lives out his dream of panoptic surveillance power for personal economic gain (of course all finances are also fictitious at this point), while the rest of us get a shot at creating not-that-destructive modes of online communication and interaction.

Without facts? It's quite well documented at this point that the "engagement" promoting algorithms dominating most social media cause or heighten conflict and have quite explicitly detrimental effects on people's mental health. This isn't about being "unwilling to step away", it's about a service nominally performing fundamental social functions (engendering communication and contact with friends, family, acquaintances etc) instead feeding you ever more rage-baiting, conspiracy laden nonsense, and that avoiding the latter also takes away your opportunity for the former.

Hey, I don't hate the guy. I don't even use any of the company's services. Just feel kinda sad for all the sheeps in there, in my country 90% people use What's App to communicate, some businesses "only" reply to questions or process sales through it, there's even a bank account that literally uses that platform to manage your money.
They, as Google with their cheap devices, managed to find a massive market in undeveloped third world countries, making contracts with mobile providers to even make it fully free (otherwise people would have to pay for data to use it) I dunno, kinda saddens me to watch fellas my age (or older) glued to their phones unaware of everything Fac... ahem, Meta is mining from them.

There were some hilarious news not so long ago about national intelligence agents using WhatsApp to "point" to surveillance targets (guys they should spy on) and talk about supposedly top secret missions in a group until one day it got leaked, the morons even used their actual names instead of nicknames. The fact that Meta knows about all of this is creepy, out of the cyberpunk dystopia.
Imagine if the CIA or KGB used WhatsApp to chat about assassinations, kidnappings and prisoners, and the lists got leaked.

What 'rage baiting' is Facebook serving to its users?

Their algorithm prioritizes highly affective content, i.e. anything and everything that is likely to elicit an emotional reaction - and the stronger, the more it gets promoted. Thus, rage-bait content gets spread far and wide. It's not the only kind, obviously, as anything extremely tragic is likely to get equal traction (but is generally shorter lived due to its typically individualized and highly specific nature, whereas rage-bait can play on themes, beliefs and opinions and thus have a longer shelf-life).
