NVIDIA's latest attempt to mitigate the continued graphics card supply issues with the relaunch of the RTX 2060 in a 12 GB flavor seems to be mostly vapor - for a little while longer, at least. That the new, 12 GB cards' launch wasn't even met with an official NVIDIA MSRP was enough to get some eyebrows raised by itself; and the almost complete lack of availability of any of these partner-only cards after the launch proper only adds insult to injury.

According to PC Gamer, citing an NVIDIA spokesperson, actual card production ramp will happen "(...) starting the end of December and early January". Even when that happens, would-be buyers of RTX 2060 12 GB cards will still have to contend with the absolute lack of pricing structure in the current market. the absence of an MSRP essentially gives the entire NVIDIA supply chain a way to operate and earn profits in the dark, setting their own pricing solely according to mechanisms of supply and demand. NVIDIA itself, AIB partners, distributors and retailers - all of them can seemingly add whatever margin they feel the market demand will sustain. It doesn't seem that the third life of NVIDIA's RTX 2060 12 GB will do much to improve the actual situation for consumers - but retailers can now sell three-year-old technology at whatever pricing the market determines.

Funny, when demand outstrip supply then msrp is not important and when supply outstrip demand then msrp is important hehe, talk about hypocrisy from nvidia and its mafia parters. AMD is weak to enforce msrp to its partners and we are still waiting for intel to come and freshen the gpu market, although Intel on the cpu field as we know is a mafia too. These gpu manufactures will go through a huge bear market and they know it, I guess they want to cash it all out right now and retire wisely. The new sheeps coming in will have to face the bear market. Anyway, manufactures have been earning a lot of money in the black market, these past 12 months.

Let me cheer wildly that we're awaiting the release of a card built on a two-year old architecture. Nevermind the vapourware of RRP Ampere cards.

So glad I got into photography. PC tech's become a terrible place these past years.

Nothing better than waiting for "possible" supply of a GPU that some might actually want to get for gaming because other GPUs are vaporware to them.

I'm not surprised that any inventory they remade of this 2060S wannabe card is hard to find, it is only 2-3 year old tech we're talking about here. What's a 2060S going for on ebay these days.....$600+? I bet any of these new 2060 cards that do make retailer shelves won't be far behind what ebay has other 2060 models listed for.

Two-year old my back, this was put in production in Q3 2018, while the tape-out happened probably in the beginning of Q1 2018.
That is already 4-year-old architecture, and if you calculate the design stage of the process, then it's 8 or 9-year-old architecture :D

The supply will improve so that you can buy a GPU basically released 3 years ago for probably 50-70% more on top of MSRP, cool.

Err, given that RTX 3060 is only 6% faster than RTX 2060S and 19% faster than the original flavour RTX 2060, I think the going downwards spiraling for Nvidia is not thaaaat bad.
Who knows, maybe they will prepare something even slower to launch in the next months and years...

So... how, exactly, do you manage to make a 3-year-later relaunch of a (slightly tweaked) product into not only a paper launch, but a vague and poorly communicated paper launch? I'm impressed.

If they actually launched this before ramping production? That's just plain incompetence. Don't promise something you fundamentally can't deliver.

Not really. GPU mining RIO has dropped to a point where mining with a card as old as the RTX2060 is not profitable.
For trolls anything is profitable but the funny thing is, they dont use math to calculate that, I remember in 2017, people used celeron cpus to mine coins, 80 watts per hour, so 80 x 24 = 1920 watts per day, so that is 2 kwh total which even if a 1 kwh is at 0.10kwh, that cost $0.20 per day, the coins they were mining worth was 0.01 per day. So electricity was 20x more expensive than what they were mining and they were still mining it. I asked why they were doing that and one person replied --> "it helps in the end with the profit", I was shocked to a point that i never replied that, some people you just need to leave them be.

Same thing from november 2018 to june 2020, a 300 usd gpu was earning from -30 cents to +10 cents per day mining eth, so most months were negative profit and some months with few cents positive, mining for scraps, to this day I still dont understand why they were mining it, with the money they paid the electricity, they could have bought 60% more eth directly from exchanges than mine, they are brainless.

While those are fair points, most miners are going to be smart about it.

Some yes, most of the smart ones will always sell the gpus little bit earlier than when bear market hits, smart ones never mine on bear market, if they have to buy coins then they buy directly, they know how the bear market is, mining is only good on bull market and only if you time it well, timing has to be perfect for maximum profit. Only few get it right and know to do it right.

It's $221's more than the MSRP paper launch of the RTX 3060 is $550 pricing Btarunr mentioned holds steady. That's as much as GTX960 4GB cost new just in scalping taxes for a GPU that's year later and probably at the same time weaker than the RTX 3060. I defiantly want to see the two compared though along with the original RTX 2060 that three way shootout should happen maybe include the GTX 960 4GB for context of how much they are ripping you off by.

This is 192bit, 2060 super is 256bit and is okay. 3060 is 192bit too.

Why the 2060 maybe the 2070 or 2080 would've made more sense, or at least launch something cheap like a 3050 not this abomination.
