It's the will of the people...

...that just walked out of local pub.

I see Poland is kicking off too, Donald Tusk has to tell his fellow countrymen no cherry picking!

The stupidest thing the British government did since the war in Irak.

Correct me if I'm wrong didn't the people all voted for it? Doesn't matter if it's stupid or not, it's what the majority of you all wanted. Reminds of the people who were clamouring for lockdowns and gov't intervention when world at large started catching wind of 'rona. Today these same people are demanding less or no lockdowns/policy/regulations now that they are staring down bankruptcy/financial ruin because business is down or they can't find steady employment. It's what they wanted.

Sorry, but that's a very narrow-minded view on democracy. Just because the (misinfirmed and ignorant) majority wants something, it doesn't make it right. In my opinion, issues with massive political and economical consequences, like brexit, should never be voted on. The masses don't even know what they want to eat for breakfast tomorrow, not to mention the fate of a whole country.

I think you meant Stalinist. Bolsheviks established Soviets where all decisions were made democratically amongst members of the Soviet, regardless of class or sex, in opposition to the Provisional Government. Worker’s councils formed the basis of governance, and Soviets were as close as Russia ever got to a dictatorship of the proletariat, ie an egalitarian democracy where citizens had ultimate authority over their self-governance.

Are you saying they're not? Is everybody over 18 an expert on politics and economics thanks to government television? Come on...

What a good little Bolshevik you would make.
How did you conclude that? They were all about giving more power to the working class. In my post I said that most of the common people are incapable of making decisions that affect a whole country. These are two opposite things.

Besides, my great-grandfather was a landowner in Hungary before the soviet era. He also owned a hotel, a milk factory and a horse race track. He was one of the first people in the county to have a car. Then the soviets took everything from him and my family never got anything back. Calling me a bolshevik or red or soviet or any affiliate isn't only a matter of "no thank you", but also a personal insult against me and my family. So kindly, please back off.

Old enough to fight for your country then you're old enough to vote. It's how democracy was meant to work. Saying the Brits are too stupid to make their own decision is an insult to every Brit who gave blood in both world wars.

I'm not talking about the Brits. I'm talking about people in general. Just because you know how to hold a gun (that you never even wanted to hold in the first place) doesn't make you a political expert. Old doesn't equal clever, or wise, or well-informed. Not to mention that most people under 30-40 have never even seen a gun, let alone held one or shot with one. The world wars are long gone, this is a different world now. A world of Marvel sequels, drunk teenagers and Justin Bieber and Beyoncè fans who get offended by anything and everything. These are the people who vote. Oh and old racist grandmas and gradpas who think immigrants are taking their jobs away even though they look down on the jobs that they they themselves are so precious about. That's the world we live in.

I'm also not talking about democracy. I'm talking about voting on certain matters that have deep and long-bearing consequences. Voting on who should make these decisions is one thing. Making these decisions yourself without any insight into how much weight they carry is something completely different.

The irony is the majority of young people in the UK were anti Brexit. It's just that most of them were too lazy to get off their arses and vote. With that said democracy isn't about 'political experts'. That's not how it was meant to work. Political experts deciding on what matters should and shouldn't be voted on are good for totalitarian regimes.

The majority of the posters and the ones pushing their political beliefs know better but yet they still do it....................and complain later once they are slapped with points :shadedshu:

Closing up shop;)
