AMD Radeon RX 6500 XT Real-world Pricing Closer to $300

AMD this CES announced the Radeon RX 6500 XT graphics card, its product to debut on the TSMC-N6 (6 nm) silicon fabrication process. Armed with just 4 GB of memory, the card is launched with an SEP of $199, although its real-world pricing tells a different story, according to retail prices leaked of two upcoming ASUS-branded custom-design RX 6500 XT cards.

The ASUS TUF Gaming RX 6500 XT is priced around 340€ including taxes, while the DUAL RX 6500 XT goes for 299€; a far-cry from the roughly 220€ pricing. The RX 6500 XT is purported as an entry-mid category product, designed for 1080p AAA gaming with Fidelity FX Super Resolution unlocking some more eye-candy. It is based on the same RDNA2 graphics architecture as the rest of the RX 6000 series.

This should be an $89 budget gaming card. 4GB of 64 bit ram, pcie x4 interface. For $300 you can get a used 8gb 570 that's probably faster.

Yeah, no thanks. Good to see that price to performance hasn't changed at all since 2016; if anything it's considerably worse.

INB4 the RX 6400 is $250.

My 1070 is still trucking along, and I have a GTX 780, an RX 460, and a GTX 750 Ti I can swap to in case it decides to die.

I don't believe Intel will change the status quo, as (even if I believed Raja Koduri and his BS) the manufacturing will still be at TSMC, taking away capacity from the other GPU brands. It's a zero sum game.

This is just manufacturers obeying the law of market value. If it outperforms an RX570 that sells on ebay, used, for $225-$275, then manufacturers are being goddamn stupid if they're willing to give it away for less than that.

They are not charities; I don't have to like it, but their responsibility to their shareholders is to sell their product for as much as people are willing to pay.

Unless AMD enforce pricing, this is how it was always going to be.
