Sony goes Carbon Fiber

Sony Korea recently announced that their two new VAIO TX series notebooks(VGN-TX17LP/B and VGN-TX16LP/W) will be made from carbon fiber. Due to the use of the carbon filament composite material the laptops will be much stronger than traditional plastic shell laptops, while providing reduced weight. When compared against current T series notebooks, the VAIO TX series are twice as strong and 1.24-1.26kg(2.7-2.8 lbs) lighter or a 30% weight reduction. The rather eye-catching design is unique with using sapphire black and platinum white.



Another very interesting feature this laptop brings to the table is its AV mode button. When this button is pushed, an instant media mode becomes available in 12seconds bypassing a windows boot. This allows the user to watch movies, look at pictures, and listen to music without going through the full boot process.

with lower specs and a higher price point Sony has to find a new gimmick to justify the higher price point against its rivals and id have to say carbon fibre could be that justification at least until others copy the idea.

So its a little lighter than the magnesium laptop I've got, maybe as strong... Should keep your entire lap a little warmer but no paticular part hot right?!?
Whats the price point? Twice as much?

lol, I think thats a little too much laughing for a terrible joke, no offense.

Its not a desktop here, I thought it was a cool idea cause its making laptops more durable, and lighter.
