Graphics Card Prices at Record Lows, Sweetspot-segment Finally Affordable

There is a significant cooling down of graphics card prices across the board, according to an exhaustive set of retail pricing data compiled by 3DCenter.org, for the European market. We see entry-level cards like the Radeon RX 6500 XT get closest to their MSRP, with prices as low as 235€, and the GeForce RTX 3050 as low as 349€. The RX 6600 XT sees its price as low as 519€, and the popular RTX 3060 around the same price, starting at 529€. The performance segment sees the 768€ RX 6700 XT square off against the 869€ RTX 3070. The high-end sees the RTX 3080 10 GB as low as 1,179€, compared to the RX 6800 XT, as low as 1099€. 3DCenter observes a downward trend for these graphics cards across the board.

What constitutes "record lows" is very much a matter of perspective, and in this case I prefer not to adopt the perspective of "since the market went down the crapper", but instead trying to keep a broader overview (i.e. comparing across generations etc.). Don't get me wrong, any improvement is good, but this is still really expensive.

At this point I feel like I could win the lottery due to the sheer amount of luck I had to find my 3070 at MSRP.

I don't want to say this is bull$hit as we all know what were the prices of graphic cards for the past few years, but I have a friend that bought his RX6800 at 670€ on launch day from an online store, no special discount or any favors.

I've been seeing RTX 3080 cards coming into the Micro Center stores, but none of them appear to the be 10GB version. The 12GB versions are retailing for $1300+.
I'm not sure about your location, but in the States it appears the 12GB is kind of the norm for the 3080 cards that are landing on retail shelves. If that's the case I doubt we'll ever seen them under $1000 and by the time they do hit that price, we'll probably see the 40xx series coming out.

I guess you got lucky then. I bought it and a Ryzen 5800X for him, for the same money a slightly better 3070 goes for here now.
In other words, going by current pricing, he got his CPU for free.

It wasn't no low end Phoenix or Ventus model either, it was a Gaming X Trio, so yeah, extremely lucky considering the market situation. Here's hoping I'll be able to comfortably buy a GPU at the price they were announced at when the time comes around for an upgrade/rebuild.

My 5900X costed 380 euros, that was a no brainer.

What sort of alternate reality are we living in where these prices for 'entry level' cards are seen as affordable? I mean, even if we remove Covid (supply chain) and Ukraine (going to hurt Euro/global rates), it's ridiculous to accept the thousand plus dollar/euro/pound prices for cards (6800XT/3080) that were released one-and-a-half years ago at the manufacturer MSRP of 700 bucks.

Don't enbolden the manufacturers with this affordability narrative. The prices are a joke.

340-360€ (for higher end models) is the absolute limit.

Somewhat getting to the point that price/performance is better than last gen, atleast for the mid-range and high end. Obviously still not low enough, but it's an improvement.

Low ? a 3050 is still at 380€.
Normaly a X50 was since the GTS 250 till GTX 1050 between 150 and 220 €

Shit, at this rate they'll have to be technically in the bargain basket for my ass.

Entry level IMHO would be around 6600 3050 performance for 200£, Max. .

That 6800Xt, I'm not paying more than 650 for or I'm not buying, same for a 3080.

And I would pay upto a bag o sand but I would want 1.5X minimum of the performance of the fastest presently possible on consumer tech, so mine and the markets figures are far from aligned.

No effin way did I expect to still be on a Vega64 now in 2022.

That's still not low enough for me. It's getting closer, and if I had the money today and could ensure I could get it from a reputable seller I might be tempted to buy it even at that markup. But I'll probably wait until we get closer to the announcement of next gen and then see if I can snag a closer to MSRP 3080. I have a 2080ti, which is almost a 3070 from what I've seen, so nothing less than a 3080 is an upgrade for me. However, I do get worried the older this card gets that it could crap out, and this is my main computer for work and home stuff so I need/want a reliable/newer card.

Then again, I might just wait to see if I can snag a 4080 or whatever when they come out if the prices are even remotely close to MSRP. I'll compare to the pricing of the 3080 and see.
