We are talking about mobo's that are release now right? there's all the old ones and even "new ones" in the store. This could be misleading.

Yes, it'news worthy that Gigabyte motherboards now come with latest bios.

And don't forget to thoroughly read the announcement: "X570, B550, A520, X470, B450, and A320 motherboards CAN support the newly launched Ryzen 5000 and Ryzen 4000 series processors without updating BIOS."

They can support newest processors. But we of coure don't guarantee it, it's for you to find out.

We're in the era of generally good backwards compatibility, you can connect 10M ethernet, USB 1.1 peripherals and a PCIe 1.0 graphics card to your latest motherboard and everything will probably work (unless UEFI support gets in the way for the graphics). And yet, your PC won't even start in some kind of safe mode if the BIOS does not recognize your specific model of processor. That's quite bad, I guess.

i guess we can have 150$ almost low end motherboards now, but for some reason there is no budget for a bios chip that can hold more then a couple bytes. Someone once explained why they can't do it, but it still doesn't make sense to me

It's a nice idea, but with current implementations of mainstream platforms it's not really possible. There would have to be another computer on the motherboard that provides input and output - like BMCs in server motherboards. I guess Intel ME or AMD PSP would be able to do a bit of this (and as far as I know they do boot first), but input/output would be a problem.
Without the knowledge of how to initialize a CPU you can't have graphical output because it's either in the CPU or connected via PCIe that's also in the CPU. Same with input devices since USB controllers are either in the CPU or connected via PCIe. Surely both AMD and Intel could agree on some sort of generic interface to do this, but I doubt there's much motivation to put in the effort.
The most we can do at the moment is to have a BIOS-flashback mode that's capable of simply reading a new BIOS from one dedicated USB port (that's wired differently) and force-flashing it. Most of those features work without a CPU inserted.

While this is a good thing for consumers, i.e. users of older Ryzen platform, this is not a good thing for motherboard makers. AMD is going to irritate motherboard makers because while AMD can still push new chips out to consumers, motherboard makers are not going to benefit much from it.

i don't think that's a problem, motherboards are among the least durable and reliable hardware you can have on a PC, there's always opportunity to sell more. And AMD will lose on the chipset sales.

I literally just purchased a B450 when this thread was posted and I gotta say that this is invalid. I tried pairing it up with Ryzen 5 5600G and couldn't even get a post into bios....
