GIGABYTE Technology, one of the top global manufacturers of motherboards, graphics cards, and hardware solutions, announces today Z690 AORUS TACHYON motherboard with the latest 12th generation Intel Core i9 12900K processor and LN2 liquid nitrogen heat dissipation set the world-leading overclocking records of DDR5 -10022, which verified by HWBOT. GIGABYTE Z690 AORUS TACHYON motherboard designed by world-famous overclocker equips with plenty functions exclusively for extreme overclockers, which promise overclockers higher scores with easier operation, establishing GIGABYTE's leading role in overclocking on the Z690 motherboards.

This DDR5 world record set by GIGABYTE Z690 AORUS TACHYON has been validated by HWBOT—the world famous overclocking records verification website, which indicates that overclocker HiCookie has set the leading record at 5011 MHz (DDR5-10022) using single DDR5 AORUS RGB memory stick with core i9 12900K on his self-designed Z690 AORUS TACHYON motherboard in the DDR5 memory overclocking competition.

Z690 AORUS TACHYON proves GIGABYTE's strong R&D strength by the overclocking world records of DDR5-10022 it created without considerable change on memory timings. We will definitely use Z690 AORUS TACHYON to create better overclocking performance, and can't wait to see that overclockers around the world use this motherboard to break more world records!

GIGABYTE Z690 AORUS TACHYON is designed by well-known overclockers exclusively for overclocking demands with the consistency from previous generation as well as GIGABYTE's widely recognized endurance and stability, Z690 AORUS TACHYON adopts 15+1+2 direct phases power supply, which each of them can hold up to 105 amps with its Smart Power Stage design to provide comprehensive power management. The VRM area implements a full tantalum capacitor matrix with better transient response and less mechanical interference, which can improve the stability of power supply and overclocking.

Furthermore, the latest Reactive Armor solution uses an integrated one-piece metal heat sink to provide larger heat dissipation range. The Shielded Memory Routing, SMD memory DIMMs, and comprehensive DDR5 memory overclocking BIOS setting enhance overclocking stability as well. Meanwhile, the built-in overclocking kit design on the motherboard provides shortcut keys, toggle switches and voltage detection functions that many overclockers use during overclocking adjustments. This kit allows overclockers to adjust settings more conveniently through these shortcut functions, easily break the limit, and achieve better overclocking results.

Find validation of the overclocking feat here, and the HWBOT page here.

1 DIMM, half enabled and only 600MB addressable. Don't forget you need to use LN2 on the CPU for the IMC :)

Records like these shows what is possible in the distant future, but not something anytime soon with 2 DIMMS.

wtf is a "self-designed" mobo ???

I don't think any mobo mfgr would allow a normal consumer customer to "self-design" a mobo and then produce it for them...even as a 1-time only custom order.

Seems like a strange descriptor, perhaps it should have said "self-built" or "user-built" rig ?

Hicookie is an engineer who works at Gigabyte, and is also one of their in-house overclockers. He posted a video on his youtube of an oscilloscope measurement of DDR5-10043 too.
The gigabyte OC series (-OC, SOC, Tachyon) are all his "brainchild" so to speak, and he is heavily involved in the design and optimization of those boards.

600MB? That's such an... unusual number. How, even? I'm assuming the stick has 8x 1GB chips, but then how do you whack that almost in half

Ah hah, thanks for that info :)

So he is a geek that uses his position at GB to build some custom designs on the side, hoping that perhaps some of it will turn out to be something that will actually work as designed and/or be put into production by the company...

seems like a lonely sole looking for some attention/recognition/pats on the back etc.......

On some MBs you can set the addressable amount. This validation screenshot shows 16GB, but another hwbot submission image shows CPUz open and it says 600MB addressable.

But for DDR5 the layout is the same as DDR4. 8 ICs per side (for consumer stuff). One of the biggest differences is DDR5 has 2x 32bus. In this OC its half the DIMM. Meaning of the 8 ICs, 4 is enabled. For a single 32bit bus.

You set it in Windows startup settings to use 600MB or more. The default setting is without limits. Typically for benching, anything below 4GB helps to run at a specific higher frequency or very tight timings. Competitive overclockers do that for ages in benchmarks that are not using more RAM. Most screenshots are not showing that but in rankings, it doesn't matter. The other way is to run 32bit OS which limits usable RAM below 4GB.
