Nintendo could release its next-generation handheld game console, a successor to the crazy-popular Switch, by 2024. This could be powered by an NVIDIA-sourced SoC. NVIDIA recently put up a job listing for a "Game Console Developer Tools Engineer," looking for talent designing the software development applications for the next-generation console. Nintendo is a long-standing customer of NVIDIA chips for its handheld consoles. The next-gen SoC could implement an NVIDIA-designed Arm CPU, and a highly efficient GPU based on the NVIDIA graphics architecture of the time.

About damn time! Seriously, this was needed two years ago. Of course pandemic things happened... Looking forward to it!
iirc, back in 2020 the "Jetson Nano Next" slid from 2021 to 2023. I suspect it was planned at some point, given the link between the current Jetson Nano and the Switch SoC.

So ?, could be ran on a IBM chip or ev en AMD or Intel then ?. So really no news ?.

2024 seems too far, shouldn't be around 10 months after the launch of Ada using older manufacturing & architecture generation? (ampere derivative graphics on a 7nm TSMC or something like that?)

If ya dont have speculation, what do you have?:D

Just a nVidia fan boy wet dream.

And the title totally contradicts the contents, making it more click bait than quality news which we used to get.

Based on their track record... I guess it will be another outdated slap of hardware, where the devs have to create miracles just for their games to play on it.

It may be outdated from PC user perspective, but Switch is really enjoyable platform if you're not that interested in specs of it

This. When you ignore the specs and focus on the content offered, the specs become irrelevant. The one exception, 2160p.

Well they do connect the dots up there in the article. But yeah, far fetched it sure is lol

The switch is probably the most popular console ever made.
Whatever the new one used they will sell truck loads of them
Probably guaranteed backward compatibility to unlike some others

Oh they better do this! A LOT of people will be mighty pissed if they don't, myself included!

I'm pretty sure it will be Lex.

It is still selling very well too, no surprise really.

Also when you consider how thin it is (thinner than a Steam deck?) it does pretty well imo. Anyone seeing breath of the wild on a big screen cannot deny it looks pretty impressive. I can't wait for a newer more powerful switch.

It's not "probably". It is NOT the most popular console ever made. The Switch is very popular in Japan. But it isn't even close to as popular as the PS2 and DS were back in the day. Even my brother and girlfriend owned a DS. Everyone that loved DVDs and CDs owned a PS2. Not one person I know owns a Switch, not popular in North America like back then. I bought 2 Switches and sold them both. Not happy with them. Waiting for the next console from Nintendo. Hope for a home one this time, not a portable.

2024 nintendo is so optimistic sell their console

X86 today especially AMD is getting much efficient each generation, next gen steam deck using 7000 APU is way better running every console using emulator

It's not "probably", it's not. The Switch is very popular in Japan. But it isn't even CLOSE to as popular as the PS2 and DS were back in the day GLOBALLY. Even my brother and girlfriend owned a DS. It is kind of a home one. My mate Darren has never used it portable, it is always in the dock, so therefore is as good as a home console. I really cannot see Nintendo making a big style home console. When you look at the games on the switch, which run perfectly fine on the switch hardware, so why would they need a more powerful console? The USP of the switch is the portable and docked uses which they would lose with a home console and would also have to compete with the well established PS4 and Xbox.

That is a completely subjective opinion. Most people I know own a Switch. BITD, not everyone I knew had a PS2. But that doesn't mean anything. Ultimately, sales number define a lot. But even those do not define quality or overall popularity.

Additionally, PS2 had a 13 year run whereas the Switch is only 5 years old and has 3/5th the sales numbers. So from a sales over time perspective the Switch is much more popular by far.
If you're going to spout information, make sure it has merit.

I think the sales figures for the switch are pretty good aren't they?
Edit, they are. Near matching the PS4 and beating the Xbox.

Switch has globally outsold the DS platform, since a month or so.

Yes.

Correct, if we're talking about the 3DS, as shown by the graph Tigger posted from Wiki.

And in less time. The Switch is holding it's popularity

Another underperforming tablet, yay.. And I don't like Ningreedo exclusives so I wouldn't have a single reason to get their toys.

Yeah, they do things differently and that's exactly why I don't like them.

The PS5 is 19 million which is not even close to the others.

Nintendo has done so well in the handheld market, they near own it, and have no reason the make a full size console really.

Looking forward to the switch 2

I think this begs to differ.
