iFixit accidentally listed their lineup of Steam Deck replacement parts for purchase before removing them shortly thereafter. The company listed several key components of the Steam Deck on their UK store including the Motherboard, Screen, Speakers, Fan, and Adhesive. These components do not come cheaply with the bare motherboard excluding an SSD costing £289.99 (360 USD) while the base models screen costs £59.99 (75 USD) with the premium anti-glare screen costing £89.99 (110 USD). These parts have all now been removed from the website with iFixit promising to officially release them soon while honoring any orders that were placed before the removal. The complete list of parts and their prices offered by iFixit can be found below.

iFixit said:
Earlier today we published some pages related to our upcoming parts launch with Valve. These went live earlier than we planned, so we ended up taking them down. If you did get a parts order in, we'll honor it.

Unless you are planning to use Linus(Windows drivers seem to be lacking) it should be a fun project to build a mini PC using that motherboard.

I want to know if 512 GB Anti-glare Screen will provide additional storage to SSD?

Just the motherboard is somewhat expensive, relative to a complete unit. I wish there would be a case to enclose everything except for the side controller parts.

This was precisely where my mind was going as well.
I'm hoping that Valve is expecting that to sorta 'crowdsource'-develop improvements to be integrated into the next generation. (I will not be pleased if The SteamDeck is a One-Off item, like the SteamLink and Steam Controller were)

Depending on ifixit's shipping time, one might be able to build a Deck faster than Valve is shipping them out.

Hey

Steam Deck isn't officially available in my region
Can I just order these parts and assemble my own steam Deck?

TBH I only care about bumper and membranes, price looks very reasonable.

Wild guess: they are not gonna provide most parts until supply stabilizes, because then people are gonna build it from parts.
Screen, joysticks & buttons and fan are ok for now

I was thinking the same thing. Im sure there will be some folks machining aftermarket heatsinks for it eventually

It was literally my first thought. It's not very straightforward though, you may need to figure out a custom-ish power supply to replace the battery and/or run from the USB-C port (which you'll also need to use for display output if you don't feel like getting an eDP converter). Some will certainly do it and it would be a fun project

Depending on ifixit's shipping time, one might be able to build a Deck faster than Valve is shipping them out.

Some of the parts are now officially on the store but certain things like the mainboard is only coming at a later date

or you can still attach the battery and it will function as ups, can't wait for someone to build really crazy cooler for it, maybe we can tinker with tdp too ? man so many possibilities
