SecretLab chairs are really comfy for laid back usage, I'd say much better value and comfort than most other gaming aesthetic chairs. Herman Miller Aeron or Embody are great for office work, or for a chair that kind of "disappears", but it won't have the cushy laid-back feel this does.

IMO head rests on an Ergo chair are a waste of time, unless you plan on laying back and napping, or racing around the office floor and risking whiplash.
If you need head support, grow a neck.

My titan? leathers peeled to shit, on my third set of arm wrests, paddings compressed due to my big ass... but its comfortable and it works.
The chairs are overhyped, but they ARE comfortable and good for a lot of people.

Have you actually used one? This is the only such chair of its kind that I can vouch for personally. Certainly not garbage, and there are decent ergonomic tweaks here if I say so myself.

I have one; was given the Game of Thrones Edition version by a family member due to my love of computers and dragons. If it wasn't a gift, I'd return it. The seat is ungodly uncomfortable and stiff; so much so I'm regularly standing up or shoving a cushy pillow into the seat. If I could, I'd ask a professional with reupholstery and re-cushioning skills to redo the foam seat cushion, as it's about as comfortable as an exercise bench. Chrispy_ isn't far off the mark with the comparison. It sure as heck isn't for bony bums.

The only things I like about mine are it's well-balanced, you can actually sleep in it fully reclined (and the only time it feels remotely comfortable), and the stiff back (lumbar support sucks though). But the stiff as heck seat defeats the entire purpose of spending 500+ for a chair this rigid; I'd rather save up an extra 500 to spend on a Herman Miller Embody or a similar XChair equivalent, or if I'm forced to the sit/stand thing, invest the same into a proper sit/stand setup.

A minor but still annoying issue I'm also having is the crappy arm rests. Mine are still squeaking despite having broken it in for the better part of 2 years. WD isn't working; just gunking up the joint and discoloring the metal.

One thing I did upgrade were the casters to rollerblade-style casters off Amazon; was a lot quieter, and a lot smoother with rolling around on hard flooring.

It's difficult to make a product like this that would be suitable for everyone. People who are quite tall or short to say nothing of the left handed often get the short end of the stick.

Overall though the Herman Miller Aeron is the chair of choice for me and is physically suitable for a large part of the population. Fair point about the price though. I was able to source a total of four to date for personal use. These were surplus chairs that looked new and the cost was lower then the typical new SecretLab gaming chair IIRC (under ~$400 USD).

People can do better then these gaming chairs but people have to believe that they can do better before they actually attempt to do so.
You're aware they come in the different sizes, right? There are also multiple SKUs with different features. This is what makes it extra hard to buy them refurbished as well. Sadly that's not even an option here.

Not knocking the quality, as they are nice chairs, I've just found something that suits my better. I used to have a "high-end" IKEA office chair, but it was doing my back in, something my current chair fixed in no time at all. It really does matter what kind of chair you have, if spend too much time in front of a computer.

I fully agree that these so called gaming chairs are crap. I've driven a rally car and I understand why the design is the way it is, but it's useless for a chair.

There was a video on Gamers nexus YT channel last year about gaming chairs. Basically most of them made in few Chinese companies. All pretty much the same. Companies just choose the coloring, their logo on the chair...and that's almost all of it. Office chairs that force proper posture while sitting are the only good ones. Also mesh so your skin can breathe.

Ah, yes, I was wondering when this thread would devolve into yet another "gaming chairs bad!" argument
When? First comment :D

As for "I've yet to find it uncomfortable" that may be true; I sit in plenty of chairs that are comfortable but ergonomically terrible. Lying that this product is ergonomic just to sell more of them is taking advantage of people who don't know better. Millions of people have damaged their spines, postures, and more through bad chairs and they don't always associate the damage with the product because it can take decades to manifest. You only get one spine in life though, best not to screw it up for the sake of ignorance.

If people want to buy a gaming chair for looks or brand snobbery then that's fine and entirely their decision.
If people screw their back and posture up based on being lied to by a company, that's not okay.

Looks about same as SL?
The SL doesn't have synchro tilt which is a key feature of ergonomic chairs.
Backforce is a brand of Interstuhl, a German manufacturer of office chairs.

It's nice to see that SL switched from the dreaded lumbar pillow to an adjustable lumbar support.

Ahh.... yeah definitely nothing ergonomic about this, please stop promoting this garbage.
I take it you have never sat in a Secretlab chair. Not only are they ergonomic but they are very comfortable and well built. I sit in mine over 8 hours a day without any discomfort. Try one out before you try to talk trash.

We're extra special here.

I've got the OG titan, and while it had peeling issues SL sent me replacements that have held up - the chair lasted longer than my marriage and with constant back and leg pain (nerve damage) this chair and a footrest is the only thing keeping me sane

Gamer chairs that use those flimsy back cushions have nothing on chairs with proper adjustable internal lumbar support like the SL titan
