In a couple of days, AMD will be co-hosting its Meet the Experts event with several Taiwanese motherboard makers, which are said to be showing off their upcoming X670/X670E motherboards during the event. However, courtesy of multiple sources, we already have a preview of MSI's upcoming MEG X670E Godlike motherboard. MSI itself has posted a teaser on bilibili in the PRC, which shows off the four M.2 slots the board will have, of which three supports the new-ish, slightly wider 25 mm M.2 form factor, compared to the more common 22 mm width for M.2 drives. Note that MSI writes that all four M.2 slots are PCIe 5.0, but it appears that only one of the slots is actually PCIe 5.0, with the other three being PCIe 4.0. Courtesy of Wccftech, we also have the PCB layout and Videocardz got their hands on most of the specs for the board.

The PCB layout was also annotated by @harukaze5719 to make it easier to see what some of the parts are. The board will apparently have a 24+2+1 power phase layout. It also has two additional power inputs via standard 6-pin PCIe type connectors, one for USB-PD and one that provides extra power for the PCIe slots. The board has a total of three PCIe 5.0 slots, with the first two slots sharing bandwidth and the third slot being a x4 slot that is also connected to the CPU. The board will also have eight SATA ports, two internal USB-C ports, as well as a rear one and a pair of modules around the back of which at least one should be WiFi. The board also has two Ethernet ports, one 10 Gbps and one 2.5 Gbps, at least five USB-A ports, nine fan/pump headers, a POST80 debug LED display and space for some overclocking friendly features. The 24-pin ATX power connector appears to be right-angled. Expect this to be a very premium product price wise, most likely well north of US$800.

It is expensive, but it does have a lot of options. We will wait for something non-Godlike obviously.

1st photo indicated 25110 and 2580 sized M.2 slots while spec sheet says there are only 22mm wide slots. Good chance its a fake.

The first photo is from MSI. Also, as there are no 25 mm wide M.2 drives as yet, it's hardly like the specs are lying.

A lot of useless options. Agreed. Really, what is so special about this mobo? Even the onboard sound is crap, instead of something dedicated from Creative, for example.

Where can I find a quality mobo, with no Wi-Fi (Wtf do you need an ultra expensive wifi for a desktop?? there are a lot of cheap USB Wi-Fi dongles out there if needed), 4xPCI-E slots (this garbage has only 3??);
1x2.5Gbps LAN is perfect, 2xM.2 slots are more than enough, and that's it?

one that provides extra power for the PCIe slots
How much higher than the current 75w slots?

I wonder if this might mean any of the m.2 slots can be switched to or chosen as 5.0. /tinhat

The PCIe/CNVi modules used don't actually cost much. Even in retail, the price difference between WiFi and non WiFi boards tend to be $10 or less.
You'll never get as good WiFi signal with the USB dongles as you will with these cards and proper antennas.

How much higher than the current 75w slots?
That's not how that normally works. This isn't a new feature either.
I wonder if this might mean any of the m.2 slots can be switched to or chosen as 5.0. /tinhat
I very much doubt that.

Updated the pricing, as the X570 Godlike is almost $1000.

here is a graph , showing the price fluctuations for this MB in Europe for specified sellers in distinct countries

it seems, this MB should not be so costly, after all.

2nd screenshot:
( Google-Search show lately often false results, eg. very low prices, and then when you click on it, it is either not available, or with much higher price)

Well, hence why I changed it from north of $500 to $800, not $1000.
It should be cheaper than the current board, since the 10 Gbps chip is onboard, rather than as an add-in card.
I guess it'll depend on the bundle.

It would be better if we had cases that could handle M.2 slots going "off" the motherboard, into the case, with the mounting in the case. It would improve the airflow and take up less space on the motherboard.

I for one am disappointed if it turns out that this board has only one Gen5 M.2 slot and the rest are wasted on useless x8 PCIe 5.0 slots.
I hope others configure their board better and offer one x16 Gen5 and 2 or 3 Gen5 M.2 slots.

Just gotta wait for the PCI-e to M2 adapters

but the fact there is only 1 x16 slot is a little meh cause the 2nd one could be used for something like this

Only the second 670 board to have 8x SATA ports and its the top of line board costing an arm and leg
Think i would rather buy the Carbon or the Ace and a SilverStone ECS07 might be a worse solution but its cheaper

But those 8x SATA are definitely NOT full SATA speed (600MB/s).

Count with me:

The Ryzen 7000 series has 28 lanes PCIe gen5. 4 of these are downlink for the chipset.
Now you have 2x PCIe gen5 x16 slots with 16x/0x or 8x/8x configuration. That's 16x overall.
What is left is PCIe gen5 x4 which is the third "x16" PCIe slot and x4 for the gen5 NVMe. The rest has to come from the chipset.

Now the chipset has 2x x4 PCIe gen4 but on the first chipset x4 is used as downlink for the second chipset (daisy-chain). So you have total 3x x4 PCIe gen4 from both chipsets. Which are the 3 NVMe slots.

In addition to that you have 2x x4 either PCIe gen3 or SATA.

You need x1 for the WiFi, x1 for the 2.5gbe and x2 for the 10gbe (which is not quite enough but near). That's x4 PCIe gen3 lanes.

So you are left with x4 PCIe gen3 or SATA.

So how do you get 8x SATA?

Either you will have to multiplex 4x SATA with one NVMe (which means you can use either one but not both at the same time).

Or you can take those x4 PCIe gen3 and put SATA controllers there.

There are controllers which take x2 PCIe gen3 and have 4-6 SATA ports.
So let's assume you use 2x x2 PCIe gen3 with two such controllers and get 2x 4x SATA ports which are those 8x SATA.

2x PCIe gen3 x2 is roughly 2000MB/s badnwidth (actually less, but let's simplify).
So you have to divide this bandwidth for 4x SATA drives.

That makes 500MB/s per SATA port theoretically. Practically you can be happy if it reaches 400-430 MB/s. Significantly less than what SATA is capable of (if you use all 4 at the same time).

So this is why the other boards don't do it...

[EDIT: I forgot the PCIe gen5 NVMe]

4xPCI-E slots (this garbage has only 3??);
1x2.5Gbps LAN is perfect

only 3 PCIe slots but with total 20 lanes PCIe gen5. That's 80GB/s (roughly speaking) combined.
Show me another motherboard which has that.

2xM.2 slots are more than enough, and that's it?
Not, if you use RAID .

I hope others configure their board better and offer one x16 Gen5 and 2 or 3 Gen5 M.2 slots.

You cannot have x16 gen5 PCIe plus 3 Gen5 M.2 slots (plus X670 chipsets) with Raphael 7000.
That would be 32 PCIe lanes from the CPU but it only has 28 lanes...

Just gotta wait for the PCI-e to M2 adapters

but the fact there is only 1 x16 slot is a little meh cause the 2nd one could be used for something like this

No, if the first slot is x16, the second one is x0. If the second one is x8, the first one is also x8. (x16x0 / x8x8 configuration).

If you would have two x16 slots with each x16 PCIe lanes, it would mean 32 lanes for just the first two PCIE x16 (mechanical) slots.

But you need also x4 for the first NVMe and x4 for the downlink to the chipset. That would be 40 PCIe gen5 lanes all together.

The CPU has 28 PCIe gen5 lanes, however...

It's just IMPOSSIBLE. It's a simple math...

Ok i'll take two then. Still better than one on supposed "next gen" platform.

Wait! Dual chipset?
Can someone explain to me if intel has a dual chipset? - No right? - Intel use to have NB & SB design
This is 1st AMD MB with dual PCH or previously also AMD had?
