A new mouse comes with a sensor that released 3 years ago… Although the weight of the wired model seems competitive, I'd better choose Razer Basilisk V3 Pro.

This looks really nice - and weirdly enough looks more like a successor to my old G602 than a redesigend G502. Looks a lot more comfortable than the G502 for my grip style though. I might consider trying one out at some point, though for now I'm happy with my (cheap!) G603.

Oh, and for anyone wondering, it seems that the difference between the three SKUs is:
X: wired
X Lightspeed: Wireless
X Plus: Wireless, RGB.

The biggest problem with G502 was terrible battery life - up to 60h is way too low...

This new G502 X claims up to 120h - much better, but still not enough (eg. G903 has 140-180h).

... you understand that not all mice are designed to be ultra light weight, right? You have a preference, one that isn't necessarily shared by everyone else. Not all products are designed towards your preference.

Also, please show me a 60g mouse with this many buttons, this level of configurability, a size comparable to this, etc.? Just the rubberized grips - a must, IMO - add a few grams of weight.

It's been far too long since I've used anything in that shape to really remember, but I did use and love that shape way back when, and I find the G603 very comfortable. It's not the same - the front doesn't slope down as far, among other things - but at least for me it shares some overall comfort and usability.

That's pretty impressive for that weight, but it's also clear they had to work pretty hard to get it that low, given how perforated it is. Clearly very different design goals from this Logitech.

Looks like someone was sloppy pasting in the specs to the web site, as those are 502 X Plus specs. The "G2" is likely meant to be 40G with a ² after it to link to a footnote, just like the max speed below (to which they at least added the footnote, but didn't actually remove the 2 either...). As I said: sloppy copy-paste work.

The g502 was fine as a relaxed desk mouse, it's not good if you need to do 3+ mouse movements per second (current abomination averages 8-10, tops out around 15) for extended periods of time.
Because forcing that brick to move, causes equal force coming back into your hand. Guess what part of the hand tanks it..

"Relaxed" here meaning, that you don't find yourself doing intense motions like that - or if you do, with long breaks in between.
For HARD PLAY it's much better to have a teeny tiny abomination whose Newton's Third Law is like a light puff rather than a hard punch.

I absolutely agree with everything you said there. The problem is just that the entirety of that post is directly antithetical to the "ugh why so heavy omg???" posts that people were responding to above. Different mice being useful for different things intrinsically means that not every mouse can target the same design goals, after all.

Its a few years old but the Logitech MX518 Legendary Edition is what you are asking for. I use one daily and haven't had any complaints.

I just really, really wish they made a modern wireless mouse in a slightly updated version of that shell. Keep the overall shape, keep the button placements, but make it look marginally newer, stick a Lightspeed wireless transmitter and battery in there, and it'd be nearly the ideal mouse.

I was so happy when Log moved from custom batteries in G7 to AA in G700/G700s - swapped the old power source for a new, high capacity one and boom - 5 days of work without recharging (compared to <2 days originally).

As for fast scroll - this is the reason I'm sticking with Log mice completely - whoever tried it for work/web browsing, won't be able to live without it anymore.

I'm torn between the two, tbh. I love using rechargeable AAs in my mouse, though it makes it rather heavy - thankfully Logitech has long since moved to a battery setup where you can choose whether you want to use one or two batteries. The battery life of my G603, and the G602s I had previously (one with a broken wheel click, now lives at my office, warranty replacement is now a spare for whenever I need a spare mouse) lasted forever. I can't deny the convenience of plugging in a USB-C cable though - but access to replacement batteries years down the line is a must. I do love just plugging in my Xbox controllers to recharge them, as even AAs are eaten through quite quickly with those controllers. I guess it's a good thing I'm getting comfortable with soldering and small-scale electronics repair

I used to be a fast scrolling die-hard way back when, starting with my old G9 (which was absolute murder for my hands, and rather quickly replaced), but after moving to the G602 that lacked it I no longer really see the need. Guess my PC use habits have just changed? I've got an M720 for my laptop which has that wheel, but I always have it in its notched mode these days.
