If DLSS 3.0 is specifically for the RTX 4k series then its dead to me and 90% of Nvidia's market. They cant keep making technology for 1 generation at a time, who would invest in that?
Can't be helped. No fp8 in Ampere for AI frame insertion. Real question is, what does the reviewer guide say about DLSS 2 vs DLSS 3 fps comparisons & how will W1zz present review data...

Edit: Also interesting that it relies on Reflex=on to reduce latency introduced by interpolation.

Edit2: OFE is not via interpolation.
Reviews are gonna be tricky. No DLSS vs no DLSS, DLSS2 vs DLSS2, & DLSS2 vs DLSS3.

Apple does this every year with their new iOS release: certain features on run on the newly released handsets. They're called iPhones. Have you heard of them?

Apple seems to have survived using their feature release strategy.

Also, it's not an investment. It's an expense. Investments are things like Class B shares of Berkshire-Hathaway or 10-year Treasury bonds.

I wouldn’t say that’s the best comparison. Phones do a lot more than just play video games.

iPhones aren’t cheap for sure, but apple isn’t increasing the price 2x and dropping the performance tier of its products like NVIDIA is every generation.

I don’t like defending apple, but my 12 pro max works perfectly fine with iOS 16. Not sure why someone would need the newest model outside of having money to burn or wanting the new camera that comes with each iteration.

I'm honestly surprised by the amount of vitriol towards the 12GB 4080 here - not that I don't think it looks terrible too, but I wasn't expecting so many people to agree with me or even go further. Makes me wonder if Nvidia is actually going to manage to hurt themselves this time around, or if they'll still be carried forward by their massive mindshare advantage.

November 3rd will be interesting - fingers crossed for a hard launch or as close to it as the GPU industry can get.

Pricing is so disappointing that when Jensen presented 4080 I closed the video after a while rofl.
I really can't remember to have closed the video feed so early when in the middle of a new gen announcement (except if I was tired from work)
4090 is slightly higher (6-7%) so slightly disappointing but 4080 16GB & 12GB pricing is atrocious.
The technology is good, I posted a few days earlier about the possibility Ada to have frame interpolation, that's huge.
But the general performance claims are misleading.
Even if 4090 is 2X on average faster than 3090Ti in raster like Jensen said, 4080 16GB shouldn't be more than 1.55X faster than 3080Ti in raster (and 4080 12GB shouldn't be more than 1.27X faster than 3080Ti) and I bet the real numbers will be around 10% slower than that regarding classic raster performance.
In future games that support DLSS 3.0, Navi 31 won't hold a candle, but we live in the present and just 30 upcoming games isn't that much anyway.

UK prices (as usual) are stupid. £950 for 4080 12gb? £1700 for 4090? Hard, hard pass. Stuck with a 2070 Super for the past 3 years so I might get a (hopefully) bargain basement 3080 12gb and stick with that for another 3 years. Or see what the AMD lot do. I honestly cant justify to myself spending that kind of money, as much as I would like to.

I really think it's ill advised to pass judgment on new PC hardware (that hasn't been reviewed) simply based on the nomenclature/model number pattern. Especially since NVIDIA has frequently changed how they use these model numbers.

A wiser approach would be to wait for third-party PC reviewers to assess performance and then decide yourself on the value proposition that each product has in your market.

I've only visited Germany as a tourist so I don't know if residents have different ideas about how to buy things there. But that would seem to be a more sensible strategy than to look at a model number on a box.

At least here in the USA, Joe Consumer will heavily lean toward whatever is cheaper. Today's cards aren't mass market models though. Joe Consumer buys Toyota Celicas not Mercedes-Benz S600 or whatever.
i would consider myself an enthusiast.
if there is something faster than is not just an actual scam (like a 3090 Ti that costs 1000€ more for like 10% more performance) i will buy it.
but what they try to sell here as a 4080 12GB is just a 4070. there is a ~25% difference between both cards and they carry the same name.

You wouldn't find me bet against Jensen in the past, but I think something is starting to change, it was better to delay a bit and launch one month later trying to sell the 24GB Ampere models first and just launch 12th of December the 4080 16GB at $999 and the 12GB model at $799 and everything would be fine, the increases would be within limits of acceptability imo if you take account performance, feature set and the current economic situation.

I saw those graphs on the techspot article about the 40x0 series from Nvidia.

Under the graphs it tells you that the 40 series is using DLSS performance mode. It doesn't make any mention if the 3080Ti or 3090Ti are using DLSS, at least to my understanding.

Be mindful of the marketing BS these companies do to spin things in a positive light. I'll hold my final judgment for reviews.

I don't have any problem with the "4080" 12GB. I have a problem with it being marketed as a damn 4080. This is not a xx80 GPU. No anger directed at you friend.

No, this latest crap-on-the-customers move by Huang isn't going to hurt Nvidia very much. The legions of Nvidia fans will do what they always have done. Dismiss what Huang is doing entirely or trivialize it.

Do you know that 4080 12GB is 4070? Literraly $400 bump (80%) for one generation for xx70 card

It is more like just 4060ti. I am confused what to write in my signature about my videocard, Geforce 4080 (4060ti)?

This is not a launch for gamers, this is a launch for shareholders and partners. Jensen is doing the "layering on top of Ampere" just like he promised and to ensure everyone will buy up the rest of 30 series inventory because nobody can afford these cards. Only then will they possibly adjust this ridiculous pricing. I seriously hope AMD spoils this party but I don't have too much hope.

Yes it is closest to a 4060 Ti which means it's more than twice as expensive as its predecessor.

4080 12GB looks like a marketing stunt and rebranding of 4070 to create an extra tier of high-end product with little VRAM. People are not happy with being treated as idiots, yet again. That's all to it. We have 12 GB of VRAM on 6700XT from almost two years ago.

Microsoft Flight Simulator uses almost 15 GB of VRAM in urban environements, such as NYC or London with 3D buildings, on my 6800XT, when in-game features are maxed out. Why on Earth you would give people only 12 GB of VRAM on a high-tier new product? The same argument was for 10 GB of VRAM on initial 3080.

That jackass Hueng is going to market a 4070 as a 4080. He's not doing this because he has to. There is only one reason he is doing this. To take advantage of the uninformed gamers and make them think they are getting a real 4080.
Yeah, for the last two years they have chooses miners instead gamers, now they even trying to fool and rub us.

12 GB is not enough. There will be threads everywhere discussing this, in a similar way how people hated the 10 GB 3080.

RDNA3 for me. I don't give a flying shit about ray tracing.

For me, too. I always look for the next Radeon generation.
The question is if AMD cares about its customers or not? I mean we don't want an RX 7700 XT for $879 lol

$1600 for 4090 - say what you want, regardless of previous Gen pricing... STILL TOO EXPENSIVE! Not that I'm interested

$1200 for 4080 - say what you want, regardless of previous Gen pricing... STILL TOO EXPENSIVE! I was interested and but I refuse to pay anything above $800 for a graphics card. Even $800 is too much IMO.

"15:19 UTC: New pricing for RTX 30-series" - I didn't see a screenshot so im assuming the trimmed pricing hasnt been confirmed yet?

If the 4080 is going for $1200, where does that leave 4070? .... $800-$900? Perhaps a new high for the **60 at $400-$500?. If these cards are x2/x3 the performance of previous Gen, i might be interested. Otherwise i'm not gonna spend my hard earned cash unwisely and grease/feed this never-ending profit-famished ravenous beast
