AMD to Show RV670 this Weekend

It looks like AMD is planning to unveil its new RV670 chip to the public this weekend at the World Cyber Games. The Radeon HD2950PRO (which uses the RV670 graphics processor) is set to be officially released on November 19th, with the specs suggesting that it will support DirectX 10.1, Shader Model 4.0, PCI Express 2.0, UVD and CrossFire. The card comes in two varieties, the higher performing Gladiator model which will have GPU and memory clocks of 825MHz and 2.4GHz respectively, with its little brother Revival having clocks of 750MHz and 1.8GHz respectively - presumably AMD will be showing the faster card this weekend if it wants to impress gamers. Hopefully this should mean that some reliable benchmarks could be available soon, which would allow for a comparison between the RV670 and the power-hungry R600.

I will probably end up waiting until after X-mas until I get my 2950pro due to fundage and unexpected expenses....

But this is good, to at least get a taste of what I will be purchasing. Now the question arises, will it be worth it getting the Gladiator over the Revival version? Or will the Revival be an OC-able up to and beyond Gladiator speeds like 2900pro vs. xt... I suppose it depends on the average max OC for both versions, and how close they are in performance as compared to price point.

Dam. That Gladiator model looks awfully tempting. The clock speeds highly differentiate from the Revival model, I wonder why...
Anywho, I don't plan on thinking of a new build until I start hearing rumors of the 2950xt, which is perfect because that's when I graduate college

I'm tempted to get the Gladiator RV670, but by the time I get some spare cash the R680 will probably be out.

SK-1, I'm in the same boat, just changed to Nvidia.
I think buying a new graphics card will be limited to a new build for me, no point upgrading again, the performance increase would be minimal without spending absurd amounts, possibly buying a new PSU, and trying to OC my CPU to lose the bottleneck caused by the 4200+.
Plus, with Nvidia and ATi measuring up against each other, it'll bring prices down once they've all released their new line-up, so waiting will pay off.

Hmm, For me a New Mobo, AMD Athlon X2 BE-2350. 2x 2950 Pros, 1 non creative labs sound card, 1 bigfoot networks lan card, 1 SATA/RAID Controller, 1 Physics Processor, 4 gigs of ram.

Yeah, but that's always the cycle in this industry for every damn component anymore....but that also gives so many options for building a system that you will be able to make more and more unique even if only by brand. I guess it all depends on when you want to stop waiting and jump in with something you're willing to settle with. I'm thinking along the lines of the Gladiator, but like I said earlier we'll have to see the performance and OC-ability of both. Hell the Revival could turn out to be the one for OC-ers, who really knows? Time will tell, and I will be watching between these two and the 8800GT.
