Prices in Germany:

- GeForce RTX 4090: 1.949 Euro
- GeForce RTX 4080 16 GB: 1.469 Euro
- GeForce RTX 4080 12 GB: 1.099 Euro

Nvidia marketing will have a hard time selling these price increases.

Especially if they come with just the normal performance increase, there's something very funny going on with rare benchmarks and performance numbers Nvidia is showing. Like for instance bragging about being 2x faster in Microsoft Flight Simulator, and then while showing DLSS 3.O also bragging about it being 2x faster than DLSS OFF, but the performance of DLSS OFF video isn't really that great - it should be twice the RTX 3090, right?

Safest bet will be October 13th, same day the card goes on sale. That way everyone has to go run and buy one first knowing they will run out of stock and then sit down and read the review after they already purchased it.
Go run out and buy?! You are just waking up from a loooong nap, huh?!

The GPU market has crashed (miners are selling off their used GPUs in the hundred-of-thousands, etc.) and it will take it years for it to recover. **If** there is a so-called limited stock (fake news), Jensen, and others, are deliberately sitting on supply, you know, like he did in Autumn 2020. :laugh:

At this point I'm willing to believe all the AIB partners will have an organized "in house scalping", cards will launch in small batches which will be unavailable even for these ridiculous prices, you will only be able to buy them through "scalpers" for a markup higher than Nvidia is officially allowing the partners.

It's very low (on the non-DLSS/RTX)
guru3D had 53 FPS with 3090, and Eurogamer had highest 1% at 76fps (in CPU test)

Is this part of the "bragging" about how DLSS3.0 will (allegedly) increase FPS in CPU limited games also?

A wiser approach is to ignore the 4080 model number designations and just assess the cards by actual performance.

In addition to the VRAM size and core count differences, they also have different memory bus sizes, clock speeds, and power requirements.

It is noteworthy that all three cards announced today are based on different GPUs: AD102-300, AD103-300, and AD104-400.

In the same way, many people erroneously compared the 3080 Ti to the 3080 because of the model numbers. The 3080 Ti actually shared the same GPU as the 3090 so the better comparison would have been with the 3090 (basically the 3080 Ti was a binned 3090 with half the VRAM).
I am talking strictly from the on the shelf reading for the average user. People doing the research and going to the websites will know the difference while others may just read it as a RTX 4080 with less memory and not expect as much of a drop in performance. At least with a designation (Like SE or maybe LE that used in the past) you could then understand there is more of a difference than just memory reading the box.

I just am not a big fan of not giving different number designations to products to help keep things simple for users to understand.

I wonder if EVGA exited because it didn't see much demand at these MSPR prices, given the flood of used cards hitting the market and far less crypto demand.
EVGA could have easily continued to make the lower and midrange cards, cards that EVGA claimed not only outsold the high end cards but also actually made money. That story doesnt add up :confused:

The debacle with EVGA and the reporting from JPR shows full well Nvidia has been abusing its place in the market to raise prices for greater margins while squeezing AIBs. I wish AMD wasn't willing to go along with it and/or Intel would come out swinging on price. As it stands I can't imagine buying another video card in this market as it's apparent that it is up to the customers to stop it.
You still have cards as low as $150, and you still have cards like the 6700xt/3060ti. You dont have to buy the xx9x series cards, or even the xx8x.

The current generation of lower end cards are a terrible deal at their MSRP because of how much has been cut off of them/performance levels. AMD's lack of mindshare has led to some of their lower end cards going for under MSRP and these aren't too bad. Aside from a founder's card, if they're in stock, you still can't find 3060ti at MSRP, and the 6700XT was never a good deal to begin with, but their pricing has *now* plummeted to where they're a good choice at ~$370. This is not a matter of "well you don't have to buy the high end" (which is a dumb argument to begin with when the price of entry keeps skyrocketing) as it is a company abusing their market position to maintain/increase margins.
