Interesting, so two variants for the 4080 at alternate VRAM capacities, wasnt expecting that at launch. 16 gigs in my opinion really should be the minimum for xx80 tiered card but I guess is still pressures to have the capacity low within the industry. But at least there is a 16 gig option.

Not only that. They also have two vastly different GPU configurations. The 12 GB one has 7.5k CUDA cores, the 16 GB one about 9k or so.

These sort of product launch events (not just NIVIDIA's) always leave some people wanting more. No one can please everyone all the time.

There's always tomorrow. Or a competitor's product. Or a couple more years until something better comes along. Being tech, there's always something better around the corner. Maybe DisplayPort 2.0 will come with the RTX 4090 Ti?

There is no indicator that 4000 series will ever support DisplayPort 2.0. The spec on Nvidia's website is clear. If the board was ever designed to support it, it would have been mentioned.

Nvidia is now the only GPU vendor that will not support DP 2.0 in new gen of cards. The lowest Intel card A380 has board designed to support DP 2.0 at 40 Gbps.

It is what it is.

Not at all, gravity and common sense meet somewhere on the chart of ADA GPU sizes, for many use cases.

The problem fixes itself, its just about how silly you want your case to look in 2023.

I don't mind the brick design. The RGB stripes at the end of the card look a bit meh, though. The TUF cards look more presentable this time around.
