Intel in its launch event for the 13th Gen Core "Raptor Lake" desktop processor series, also announced a high-end processor it will likely name Core i9-13900KS Limited Edition. Slated for early 2023 unlike the i9-13900K that should be available from October 20, the i9-13900KS will be the "world's first 6 GHz processor." Essentially a step-up from the i9-13900K, the KS offers maximum boost frequencies of 6.00 GHz, which are 200 MHz higher than the 5.80 GHz of the i9-13900K. There may be more to it than such a tiny speed-bump, such as higher power limits, and a better spread of the boost residency across cores, but we'll have to wait until next year to find out. This news comes amid rumors that AMD's 3DV Cache-equipped "Zen 4" CCD may be close to production, with Ryzen 7000X3D series processors entering the market with a similar "early 2023" timeline.

Someone should benchmark their 7700X with RAM at speeds varying from DDR 3200 C22 to DDR 7200 C52 to see how much memory bandwidth helps Zen 4 with minimum framerates.

And someone should do the same test with their golden 5700X/5800X with RAM/IMC running 1:1 from lowly DDR 2400 to DDR 4400 (do chips exist that can run their fabric at 2200MHz?)

Then we'll be able to interpolate our way to the expected performance of a 7000 X3D chip

IDK which game(s) should be used for the comparison though

I think Intel needs to drop the P and E cores for high end desktops. Need a 16 core or 32 core monster in the desktop market. They would have the power now to do that just take a xeon 32 core and release it for desktop do some minor tweaks to support non ECC ram and other things and bang they would be on top

That's like never gonna happen due to the cost and then there's the threadrippers.

If hits 6ghz is a 6ghz CPU, i dont think it will be any 6ghz base CPU in years.
Not like it matters a whole lot anyway, 6Ghz is like 4% more boost than 5.8Ghz and the actual performance increase will be less since it never scales perfectly.

Is already beating 13900K by a good margin

Which one is launched and which one is just announced? Aren't all of them just announced?

Yeah this is a number flex only you wouldn’t be able to boost long enough for it to make any difference

I was just going to say, you'll get it for 3 seconds before you hit some kind of limit.
