I'm stateside, we can buy from sellers in the UK/EU and exclude VAT as we're not subject to it.

Sorry about that, I thought it was available globally. It's one of the UK's largest online shops selling the ASRock A380 for £149.

Maybe after sometime price will go down here too, but for now the price is 230€. Performance for that money is terrible. And they want to sell a770 for 320€ which should be many, many times more powerful than a380. Maybe in some specific countries... But for now seeing what costs here with a380, impossible.

That depends. I import things all the time and very rarely does any import taxes or customs fee apply.

Of course leak guys are often proven wrong and it's fun to mock them and their overconfidence but looking at the broad picture I don't think we can confirm that they were either right or wrong in the short term (other than current gen "canceled" after a380, that's clearly wrong and was pretty outlandish to begin with). Intel will continue to move along until the last moment when/if they decide to cancel the consumer graphics deparment because that's their job. But their entry into the consumer graphics market has been full of issues and delays, it's very likely that the project has been/is being re-evaluated but it will take a while to see what (if anything) comes out of that.

I'm confident Intel is here to stay on graphics. Execution roadbumps do not change this.

Not if encoding 5 streams at the same time is your goal or running Xess.

It's possible they'll find a niche is all I'm saying and work from there.

I guess that depends on what's important to you. Absolute performance? ARC's a non-factor. But Intel has a fantastic opportunity to completely own the sub-$300 space. Now we get to see if a) that's their strategy and b) they can execute it.

No one sane expected Intel to take Nvidia's gaming crown right away.

If Intel can clean up their software, they do have a chance of making progress and not just in gaming.

Ultimately Intel is working on the ARC graphics technology for Datacenter and compute uses.

For Client Computing, Intel is more focused on getting ARC/Xe graphics cores into Raptor Lake and later CPUs, particularly for notebook silicon. For discrete graphics, Intel is probably more interested in that 2,000 unit Dell Optiplex order from the General Accounting Office's purchasing department and less interested in getting ARC Alchemist retail boxes stacked at Best Buy.

Don't forget that these days the US federal government (and other similar bodies) have power efficiency mandates that are less accommodating to 400W TGP graphics cards.

It doesn't matter.
Intel can do with 2-3 years of loss on ARC with ease.
All they need is to improving the drivers and keep price low- both can be achieved without problems.
They have big market at their hands in CPU so with time they gain market share.

Talking to my intel rep and they say we cannot get any cards on launch as they have none. He said we will have to wait until MSI launches theirs as nobody has stock. Pretty depressing as I was excited to get some of these for the holidays.

Me too. I hope there will be an Asus TUF version so I can have an all-Intel, all-TUF system.

If I end up not liking it, no biggie. I'm also thinking about a Zen 4 + RDNA 3 upgrade next year.

Not in recent times from Nvidia, or maybe even AMD. The bigger point is that at "just" $329 they'll probably be selling it at a loss.

I estimate that that card cost as much as to make 6800xt and they are selling at 6600xt prices so yeah I don't see how they'll make any money out of but that was kind of expected.
Only way they could have made any money is releasing during shortage but now that ship has sailed.
The biggest hold up IMO was the drivers but any work they put it for this gen should automatically translate into the next gen so they should be able to release next gen sooner.
If I was shopping for a card right I would still pick 770 over 3060 even before the reviews.
