AMD released the latest version of AMD Software Adrenalin drivers. Version 22.10.3 beta comes with optimization for "Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II" (2022), and support for Radeon Boost with Variable Rate Shading in "Dying Light 2." In addition, it fixes a launch-time game crash with "Elite Dangerous" on Radeon RX 6000-series GPUs; a persistent black screen when updating drivers or resetting graphics settings in Windows 11 version 22H2, and lower than normal performance with "Gotham Knights" on AMD processor-powered machines with GPUs such as the RX 6950 XT. Grab the driver from the link below.

They certainty are.

I'm going to stay on 10.2 for now since I don't have those games and still on Win 10.

always good to be careful, personally I have just been updating when something new is out (saved the overclockfile somewhere else because that was very annoyingto have to redo all the time) but anyway, no issues on my end.

As 22.10.2 was labeled as WHQL I gave it a try even as it also was beta. Won't happen again. (-; Normaly I am quite conservative when it comes to updating GPU drivers. The newest game I currently play (star valor) never got any special attention by any GPU company. Apart from that I mostly play older titles for different reasons (like saving a lot of money and not being an unpaid betatester). The freeze was in Civ 5.

I guess 22.10.3 is not the press driver performance optimised for the upcoming Radeon RX 7900 XT 20 GB and Radeon RX 7900 XTX 24 GB launch.
They still have two-three weeks to release something special.

No issues with 10.2 whatsoever. Did you do a clean install?

That will most likely be the 22.11.1 drivers since the press launch is nov 3rd. And since the retail availability isn't until dec there will most likely be another driver out by that time also.

Same an OS freezing leads me to believe there is something else going on with that PC.

The unveil is on November 3rd but the NDA for reviews will be early December. So, they still have around 3 weeks to launch a press launch driver for the new reviews published early December.

The only issue I have ever had with the Radeon drivers on my Radeon Integrated based thinkpad T14s (Rembrandt) is that photoshop fails to load with GPU acceleration. This could simply be because they demand dedicated memory for that function, though.

Otherwise the releases have been solid, and for integrated graphics, the performance has been great (about RX 570 level). I was very pleasantly surprised to see AMD had finally fixed their DX11 and OGL driver overhead issues.

there are issues, maybe you are on polaris so no issues for you

anyway, hangs/driver timeouts have improved considerably from previous versions, the ones with the new dx11 driver ofc, i imagine its fine with 22.5.1

hardware acceleration also working a lot better, downside atm is that its draws 60w from just watching a 1080p video

Using them right now on Windows 11 and it's ok, few hours on FF XIV and nothing weird yet.
issues usually or "always" happen on desktop, no issues with games for me

sidenote, i think they should have made 22.10.3 the whql ones, hardware accel feels even snappier. games slightly better aswell.

Interesting, I guess I'll give 10.3 a try then. I stuck with the 10.2 because they where WHQLs.

I have never had these hangs or driver time outs on my machine and i've been on this 6800XT since nov 2021 and been through many drivers.

I'm not on Polaris (we have system specs on this board for a reason, you know). Driver crashing and restarting may still happen every once in a while (I've had one such occasion since the non-whql 10.2 came out), but it's too rare to care and more importantly - no different with this version than with the previous one. The latter being the main point of my comment as it was an answer to one that claimed otherwise.
