Here are some of the first pictures of MSI's custom-design GeForce RTX 4080 graphics cards. The company is giving the RTX 4080 (formerly known as the RTX 4080 16 GB); custom-designs across three of its graphics card brands. Leading the pack is the RTX 4080 SUPRIM X and RTX 4080 SUPRIM; in the middle are the RTX 4080 Gaming X and RTX 4080 Gaming; and at the entry-level at the RTX 4080 Ventus 3X, and the RTX 4080 Ventus 3X OC. The Ventus 3X is expected to stick to NVIDIA reference speeds, with the Ventus 3X OC having a mild factory-overclock. The RTX 4080 Gaming has a similar overclock to the Ventus 3X OC, but with a superior cooling solution that's splashed with RGB LEDs. The RTX 4080 Gaming X has a higher factory-overclock grade. The RTX 4080 SUPRIM has a similar factory-overclock to the Gaming X, but with MSI's top SUPRIM cooling solution; while the SUPRIM X has the company's highest factory-overclock grade.

The RTX 4080 SUPRIM and SUPRIM X feature a similar-looking board design to that of the RTX 4090 SUPRIM X, with a meaty 4-slot cooling solution, premium multi-tone metal shrouds and backplates, and the company's highest-quality PCB components and its top VRM solution. The RTX 4080 Gaming X and Gaming are middle-tier, still give you a reasonably well-designed cooling solution geared for gaming, which looks bright and colorful in your rig. The RTX 4080 Ventus 3X OC and Ventus 3X are designed to be practical. If you just want a close-to-reference RTX 4080 that you can install and forget about, the Ventus series is for you. NVIDIA is launching the RTX 4080 on November 16.

What are you on about? the RTX 4080 has never come out before. This is Techpowerup, where people talk about hardware, and particular models of graphics cards.
Yeah, but pictures, of the same last-gen design, is not warrant for discussion, IMO (unless you like starring at your build). It really comes off as just free marketing, a helping hand for these ill companies.

Wait... we're not supposed to sit and stare at our builds? I've clearly been doing this wrong.

Yea but my point was/is that the majority of these posts are not really news to alot of us.. We knew that these cards were coming shortly after the 90 series, and the fact that they have now been "formally" announced means absolutely NOTHIN, unless it includes prices, dimensions, and some real, MEANINGFUL comparisons to the higher models, so that those of us wanting to buy a new GPU could potentially make an informed price/performance buying decision...

And no, I do not wanna see a link to another website to look-up the prices/actual specs, cause I think that all of that info should be posted along with the PR's :D

And I don't wanna be rude either, but the last time I checked (.0728ns ago), everyone here is entitled to their opinions and can post almost anything they want, as long as it is not defamatory, derogatory, profane or false info... so if you don't like or agree with what I post, just ignore it & move on

You know that goes both ways, if you don't like what news are posted on this site you can just ignore and move on, don't have to drop the same yawn this and that under everything you don't like for whatever reason.
I'm not a fan of certain news/leaks either, or when a new lineup of GPUs are 'pictured' and we have the whole front site filled with x-y brand and their cards instead of having all that under 1 topic but I still don't go around posting the same crap under everything I just ignore it like what you suggested.

Anyway I aint gonna waste more on this, do what you like.:)

Benchmark Scores I once clocked a Celeron-300A to 564MHz on an Abit BE6 and it scored over 9000.
But MSI's SuprimX and GamingX have so much ARGBLED cancer that you will hate them when they're turned on.

Worse than that, MSI Mystic Light only runs in MSI Center, both are some of the most offensive, mandatory online-account, resource-intensive shitware I've ever had the misfortune of trying out.

Seriously, the cards are probably fine but Use OpenRGB and don't ever touch the software that you absolutely need to dial back (or turn off) the insane amounts of garish, cheezy-animation, rainbow-spew. Even people I know who like RGBLED say that the GamingX I have is completely unacceptable amounts of LEDs. They overwhelm all the other lighting in my case by an order of magnitude and it looks like I have a 300W stage spotlight under my desk if I don't do something about it.

With the main LED bar along the top edge set to minimum brightness, 32, 32, 32 "dark grey" colour, it's still the brightest LED in my case, but at least I can independently turn that off.

Had a GPU come i loose parts (soldering required) sure, but just assembling PCs isn't exactly an art form. Set higher goals.

Out of the box the Suprim X (4090) has a fairly subtle white light bar and logo. Thats it.

As for these models, I dont understand why the Ventus class exists at this price point. If you are spending more than a grand on a GPU, dont buy such a cheap cooler. If the 4090 is anything to go by, there is nothing performance wise between any of them, so the best pick of this lot is probably the Gaming X non-OC. Thats assuming you are unable to get an FE (and of course, thats assuming its also as well built and capable as the 4090 FE.)

Want to bet? My bet is that they ship a small amount just like the 4090, they sell out in the first day and cut supply. There is no way these cards don't sell by the way. 3090s sell and they are absolutely disgustingly bad value. This one is more efficient and it will be a lot faster.

mandatory online-account
No it isn't. I have a B660M Mortar from MSI and I use the RGB and fan control without an account. Not logged in. The program itself is pretty weird though, not gonna lie.

You just don't get it. It has a slightly different number and is more expensive so self-appointed "enthusiasts" are urinating like excited puppies.
It's all marketing. New corporate toys to fill the everlasting lust for things - remember, accumulating things is one of the most basic instincts since the time it meant getting a pile of berries which can feed a monkey without killing it - while filling the landfills with even more trash for future generations to deal with, new games to fill the empty void which constitutes an average consumer's psyche and so on.

New corporate toys to fill the everlasting lust for things

The good news for all of us is that this will come to end soon. There are almost no more optical shrinks possible, but even if there is 1 or 2 remaining, it will be some more years.
So, yeah, this generation is a good time to buy, and then forget about the next purchase in the next 10 years.

Then, we will see what happens next in 2032 :)

How much will the performance be? RTX 3090 Ti level for $1200?

If this performs and costs like a 3090 Ti, you might as well buy a 3090 Ti instead, since it has a lot more VRAM.

An obvious milking and anti-consumer by greedy Huang. Sheeps will still buy it anyway.

Honestly, regarding the 4090 at least, it's just a product a bit ahead of its time. Panel technology hasn't quite caught up to GPUs yet, so unless you're seeking to push the most extreme frame rates, such a GPU is not going to be useful to most people at 1080p/1440p resolutions.

People buying the 4090 today and coming from hardware such as the 3080 are experiencing gains in the range of 80-100%, which is nothing to scoff at - it's the same kick I experienced when I moved from the Radeon VII to the 3090. The 4080 seems to be significantly slower, so the price needs to be substantially lower as well - no more than $100 over the RTX 3080's debut price - for it to be truly an upgrade.

Launch seasons I usually scramble to flip over some of my older gear and upgrade asap - but for the first time in a while, I decided to wait for the Ti model, renovated my PC and this summer I am going to get some sun at a beach resort, my man.
