Is playing with a deck of cards gaming? Mahjong? A chess board? Checkers? Go?

Even video games there are quite a few free to play titles (particularly live service co-ops like Fortnite, Apex Legends, CS:GO) and inexpensive ones as well as web-based freeware. On mobile there are quite a few ad-supported freeware/cheapware titles.

For PC, there are frequent sales and Epic Game Store is currently offering one or two titles for free weekly.

A more accurate statement would be "gaming can be expensive." But basically anything a human does can be expensive so by itself there's nothing enlightening to that statement.

Note that one can play a flight simulator with a mouse and keyboard or a controller (Microsoft Flight Simulator on Xbox is one example).

Expensive but on another level, kinda similar to buying a 4090 (can run cyberpunk in native 4K at 60fps). Actually the setup would be both cheaper and much better investment imo

I can't afford this level of luxury, but still glad it comes to market. It's good to have this stuff imo, I personally still want a really nice racing wheel and pedals someday for car games. I am hoping a new model like $199 range will come out that is up to date and well reviewed. Racing games and flight games just sound more fun the more I think about it, if you have the proper gear for it.

Not a good comparison. These pedals are a specialized accessory for flight simulators for rudder control. It's not like they can be used for Elden Ring or League of Legends.

By contrast, an RTX 4090 is a graphics card and will improve performance on pretty much any game.

A better comparison might be some sort of driving wheel.

It's important to note that MSFS is one of the most demanding video games on PC. While this rudder accessory is nice, it would likely be several notches down on a priority list. It's not going to generate any more frames like a high-powered GPU would provide.

There's no debate about pricing. This rudder pedal device is $300. A 4090 is around $2000 (street price).

Gaming is only as expensive as you let it get. Gaming might be expensive FOR YOU but it is not expensive FOR ALL.

Some people are happy to say their gaming is playing PUBG, Angry Birds, Candy Crush or Wordle on their phones. And no one is pointing a gun at Overwatch 2 and Apex Legends players saying they need to spend money.

I don't need any more video cards right now. I have what I need and I can have plenty of fun without spending any more money.
