LG Electronics (LG) is unveiling the 32-inch 4K UHD LG SMART Monitor (model 32SQ780S). The all-around SMART Monitor enhances home life by enabling a remote workstation, home exercising, next-level gaming and various entertainment applications, including popular streaming services, without a PC connection. Thanks to its built-in features and LG's ergonomic stand with maximum adjustability, the unique 32SQ780S allows users to enjoy the content love how they want and when they want, at their desk or on the sofa.

Under the brand's motto of 'Work Smarter, Play Better', LG SMART Monitor prioritizes multitasking to give consumers seeking a single display that connects to their desktop, laptop or gaming device the perfect way to get everything done in one place. Supporting LG TV's acclaimed webOS 22, this model delivers next-level convenience for content consumption with seamless streaming services for YouTube and Netflix, even without setting up a separate connection with PCs.

As a multifunctional monitor designed for the home, LG SMART Monitor sports a 4K UHD (3840 x 2160) display, delivering high picture quality for whatever the user's working on and covering 90 percent of DCI-P3 color gamut with HDR 10 support. The monitor's display produces clear, precise images to heighten the audience's immersion when viewing everything from comedies and blockbuster movies to live sports and gaming. In addition to premium picture quality, its ample sound is backed by a built-in 5 watt dual channel stereo speaker to give the viewing experience an extra dimension.

For a quick and flexible workstation, LG SMART Monitor can download various home office applications from LG Content Studio, while its LG ThinQ Homeboard supports intuitive webOS-based IoT services that let users control their home appliances with ease. Also, smart wireless connection supported by MiraCast makes sure users can mirror their smartphone screen on their new monitor.

What's more, LG SMART Monitor comes equipped with the LG Ergo stand, which makes it easy to extend, retract, swivel, pivot, raise or tilt the display to attain the optimal viewing angle for work or watching content. Gaining considerable attention in the market for its comfort-enhancing features, LG Ergo offers vertical and horizontal modes that allow for diverse usage scenarios and user preferences, while its C-clamp and grommet enable easy, space-friendly installation.

"Smart monitors are designed to meet the diverse lifestyles of today's customers," said Seo Young-jae, senior vice president and head of the IT business unit of LG Electronics Business Solutions Company. "With LG's new smart monitor, users can now do almost everything with a single display, from working and learning at home to streaming content and movies in easy and comfortable way."

LG SMART Monitor will be available in early November, starting in the U.S. with other markets to follow.
[Editor's note: The LG 32SQ780S has an MSRP of US$499.99]

Well, he got a IKEA Forsa desk lamp, so he saved already some bucks. Noticed they also got more expensive. Two years ago I bought 2 of them for 15 bucks each, on a sale. When I unboxed it I was really impressed with the build quality. Almost only metal parts, super heavy stand & the retro design is just gorgeous. Going to upgrade them with the IKEA smart hub & smart LED bulbs the next months.

When you're doing the math, for the 500 bucks you could also get 25 IKEA lambs (or 33 when discounted). It's really crazy. And the monitor is only 60Hz, not really for gaming. Plus built in smart spyware. Bet we're just at the start of the "smart wave" for monitors, they will try the same what they are already doing with TV's. Dumping cheap cross subsidized monitors where they make the cash not by selling monitors but by selling smart user data. No thanks.

Convenient is when I can install a AddBlocker and watch Youtube clips without adds every 5 minutes. ;) Everything that forces me to watch adds is just dead on arrival for me. Period.

Don't worry they have "4K is for YouTube Premium accounts only" right around the corner.

Not everyone on the planet wants a + 32in screen in (certain) rooms, but might be interested in smart + pc connectivity (laptop/mobile/screen cloning),
and below 32in offers arent that many with smart features and/or 1080p.

Yeah, 32-inch is small for a TV, and super large for a normal desktop-sitting everyday PC use.
If someone want to game, they will use their 50-inch+ TV, if someone wants to work - they will use a 22-24-inch that fits on a desk.

Not to mention that the vast majority of people are fine to work with 13-14-inch notebooks.

LG, MSI, Samsung and others all have 32” 4K displays for considerably less then this $499.99 LG offering. Starting at around ~$299 for name brand offerings with features like FreeSync and more. So, super hard pass.

Don't worry, two analog clocks in the same room will bring you back from the dead, just make sure they are set an hour and 46 minutes apart.

there are ppl that want a smaller screen for maybe the kitchen or a guest room/bathroom,
that wont get hooked up to an "antenna" (in some form).

not everything evolves around "you", playing games on a larger gaming moni (sync features etc).

Are there any monitor manufacturers that just sell devices, without "lifestyle" attached?

PS
Ew, 250 nit VA panel. OK, the need to spin-spin is understandable.

Then those people would likely do well to look at 32” 4K smart TVs which in many cases are even cheaper (then this LG) starting at about ~$199 USD. A lot of people also seem to get by with tablets and phones,…..

You’re Welcome,…. Mate.

why?
for many on this planet, its not about saving a buck, if the product is a better match for their "needs".

example
not sure if you have kids, but maybe a relative, so go and ask your "6y old niece",
why she doesnt want that blue bike which is bigger/better/faster and cheaper,
that cheaper than the pink small one she wants..

seems many forgot this planet has +7 billion ppl, so "your" not always the benchmark for what products are being offered.

Why is this not available in Europe / France LG ???
I contacted LG Europe and they said they had no plan to sell this here ? Why LG ??? I am a LG OLED TV owner and I wanted to stay in the same ecosystem for my home office. This would have been the perfect product for me but why the hell cannot I get this ? Do I need to look at competitors ? I cannot believe I am saying this...

Just curious: you actually enjoy using webOs?
Before my current LG TV, I had a Panasonic OLED that was replaced due to burnout. The Panasonic OS was not as modern, especially in terms of Apps.
So, it's not like I have many comparison points but I would say webOS doesn't get in my way and is pretty responsive for what I do : using apps : Youtube, Netflix, Disney, Amazon Prime, Airplay on the fly, switching between them, etc... it's responsive for what I do so if I can get all that in my home office on an external PC/mac monitor, and with an included arm that would fit conviniently, what more can I ask...

I really hope this doesn't become a market trend, I don't want any of this shit anywhere near my monitor just as I didn't want any of this shit in my TV.

Seeing how it turned out for TVs, I'm sad for the future of monitors :shadedshu:
